From the earliest times men seem to have noticed the habits of insects, and to have learned lessons from them. If we waste time when the condition are good for work, we shall probably __3__ later; when we really want to work, we are __4__ to do so. Moths, and some other insects, cannot help flying __5__ a light of any kind. The attraction seems to be too strong for them. __6__, they often destroy themselves by flying into something that is __7__, such as a lighted candle. In some countries, when such insects as flying ants become a nuisance(討厭的東西), people __8__ themselves by lighting fire at the doors of their cottages. Sometimes the insects fly into the fire in __9__ large numbers that they put it out. In literature we often find poets warning us of the danger of being attacked by bright or __10__ things that will destroy us. Butterflies are admired for their __11__, though they receive very little praise for anything else. They fly about __12__ the sunshine, going from flower to flower, __13__ all day long, leading a life of pleasure. They are beautiful, but it seems that they are not of much real __14__ to anybody. Some human beings lead very much the same sort of life __15__ they are butterflies of society.
Locusts are __16__. They are active enough, too active. They spend their time eating the food of others. __17__ there are men like this, destroying things wherever they go, taking themselves __18__ belongs to others, using up everything and producing nothing. They are human __19__. Perhaps it may be said that even the __20__ insects have one use; they warn us not to be like them.

Why not birds get lost on their migratory(遷移的) flights? Scientists __1__ over this question for many years.
