編者注: 六月的第三個(gè)星期日是父親節(jié)。一年一度的父親節(jié)即將來(lái)臨,為人之子都會(huì)在父親節(jié)那天為父親祝福。在奇異有趣的動(dòng)物世界里,有一群特別的“動(dòng)物爸爸”們,他們擔(dān)當(dāng)起哺育、照顧后代的重任,在父親節(jié)那天,我們是不是也要記住他們呢?讓我們來(lái)認(rèn)識(shí)一下這些可敬的“動(dòng)
物爸爸”們吧!
雄蟑螂——哺育后代 甘食鳥糞
Cockroach (蟑螂): A father cockroach eats birds droppings (鳥糞) to obtain (得到; 獲得) precious (寶貴的; 珍貴的) nitrogen (氮), which he carries back to feed his young.
雄狨猴——“賢夫良父”悉心照子
Marmoset (狨): Marmoset is a kind of tiny (極小的;微小的) South American (南美洲的) monkey. The fathers take care of their babies from birth. When the marmoset is born, the father cleans it, then carries it to the mother only when it needs to be suckled (喂奶). When the baby can eat solid food (固體食物), the father will feed it.
沙雞爸爸——為兒取水疲于奔波
Sand grouse (公沙雞): A father sand grouse of Africas Kalahari Desert (非洲卡拉哈里沙漠) flies as far as 50 miles a day in order to soak (浸濕) himself in water and return to his nest, where his chicks can drink from his feathers (羽毛)!
達(dá)爾文蛙——用嘴哺育幼兒
Darwin frog (達(dá)爾文蛙): The male (雄性的) Darwin frog hatches his eggs in a pouch(育兒袋) in his mouth. He can eat and continue about his business until(直到) his tadpoles (蝌蚪) lose their tails (尾巴), become tiny frogs (小青蛙), and jump out of his mouth!
雄鯰魚——用嘴孵化卵子
Catfish (鯰魚): A father sea catfish keeps the eggs of the mother sea catfish in his mouth until they are ready to hatch. He will not eat until his young are born, which may take several weeks.
