Ironically on the day thecontinent was supposed to becelebrating African LiberationDay, May 25, armed Zimbabweanpolice raided Chesterfield Sambassuburban home ostensibly lookingfor pornographic material. Luckily,Samba, Director of the Gays andLesbian Association of Zimbabwe(GALZ) and a well-known gayrights activist, was away at the time.But this did not stop the policefrom harassing and intimidatinghis relatives, seeking the GALZdirectors whereabouts. The policethen proceeded to confiscate hisidentification documents alongwith some gay literature.
