China has maintained its supportfor Zimbabwe at the internationalstage, as well as throughout the po-litical and economic challenges thatZimbabwe has faced in recent years.The highest mark of these excellentrelations was in 2008, when Chinaasserted that the Southern AfricanDevelopment Community and theAfrican Union should take the leadin resolving Zimbabwe's challenges.China opposed attempts to bring theZimbabwean issue to the United Na-tions Security Council and on July11, 2008, vetoed such moves alongwith the Russian Federation.
