Vujicic was born on December 4th,1982.When he was born,he had no arms and legs.He only had a small“foot”with two toes under his leftbuttock(臀部)part.
When his father saw his son,he was very surprised and couldn’t helpthrowing up(嘔吐)outside thedelivery room (產(chǎn)房)in the hospital. His mother couldn’t accept such a brutal(殘酷的)fact either. She dared not to hold Vujicic until he was four months old.
However,Vujicic’s parents didn’t give up culturing (培養(yǎng))their son. They hoped that Vujicic could study and live like ordinary(普通的)people.Vujicic said,“When I was 18 months old,I was put into water by my father because he wanted to make me have the courage to learn how to swim.”
Now when Vujicic recalls his hard study experiences,he thinks that it is the best choice made by his parents to let himintegrate(融入)into the society.Vujicic admits,“That period was very hard for me,but it made meindependent(獨(dú)立).”
After a long training process,Vujicic’s left “foot”became his good helper. It could help him to balance his body and he could use it to play football and type. When he wanted to write or fetch something,he also used the two toes to hold the pen or other objects.
At the same time,Vujicic started his public speech when he was 17 years old.He would share his experiences of getting over the hardships in his life. When more and more invitation letters arrived,Vujicic began his public speech worldwide. He has been to 35 countries and regions so far.Meanwhile,he has established the organization—Life WithoutLimbs(四肢).In this way,he could help those people who have the similar experiences out of shadow.
Just as what Nick Vujicic says,“The tragic (可悲的)thing in life is not the loss of limps but without hope and aims in life.People oftencomplain(抱怨)that they can do nothing. But if we only miss something we want to have or we don’t have rather than cherish things we have,we can’t solve the problems at all. What can really change our life are notopportunities(機(jī)會)but ourattitudes(態(tài)度).”
