On June 28, 2012, CHINALCO Tibet Mining Co., Ltd. and the 5th Geological Prospecting Team of Tibetan Geological Prospecting Bureau inked a cooperation agreement in Xi’an to jointly prospect and explore the 7 mines in Duolong deposit-intensive area of Ngari Prefecture of Tibet. Duolong deposit-intensive area is located at the third porphyry-type copper polymetallic mineralization belt in Tibet. It is also situated at the western section of Pangong Lake – Nujiang River mineralization belt, which is one of the most important mineralization belts in Tibet and even Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and one part of Duolong integrated exploration zone. Tibet has a great potential of mineral resources.Therefore, CHINALCO expects to prospect and explore large copper mines that are in shortage through strengthening cooperation with Tibet Geological Prospection Bureau,laying a foundation for CHINALCO’s strategic transition, and thus giving great impetus to social and economic development of the mining area.
