對(duì)于一個(gè)城市來說,從來都需要“新鮮”注入,而所謂新鮮,除了現(xiàn)代化象征意味的科技之外,更要有人格魅力和年輕姿態(tài)之類的精神物質(zhì)。西湖音樂節(jié)所呈現(xiàn)出來的溫和態(tài)度及年輕符號(hào)就是這種精神物質(zhì)。

西湖音樂節(jié)大家都不會(huì)陌生,從2008年到現(xiàn)在,已經(jīng)連續(xù)舉辦了五屆。作為原創(chuàng)音樂大派對(duì),她從誕生之日起,就如此的與眾不同—既不具有迷笛和草莓音樂節(jié)的那種與產(chǎn)業(yè)鏈條密切相關(guān)的特質(zhì),也不同于各大城市爭(zhēng)相舉辦的商業(yè)元素先行的主題音樂節(jié)。

西湖音樂節(jié)在緊鄰市中心的西湖之畔、在寬闊而有序的草坪上、在年輕向上的笑臉中間,她更多地表達(dá)出了個(gè)性和舒適度。按說年輕人才可以為了一個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單的理由而產(chǎn)生“奔赴”的行為,而早已經(jīng)麻木成癮的我也因?yàn)橐粓?chǎng)音樂節(jié)奔赴異土,這里所產(chǎn)生的喜劇和慚愧不言而喻。但只要你還喜歡某樣?xùn)|西,適當(dāng)用最佳方式接近她,那就是縱然荒誕也無妨的最好托詞。而聆聽音樂、搖滾樂最好的地理位置當(dāng)然也只能是在現(xiàn)場(chǎng)。

2013年6月15日和16日,我們又一次奔赴這場(chǎng)每年一度的音樂盛會(huì)。

張揚(yáng)個(gè)性

最近幾年,來自新疆的舌頭樂隊(duì)在年輕人中一直很火。他們不羈的個(gè)性和狂躁的聲音,很好地詮釋了年輕人在這個(gè)社會(huì)里的訴求。在場(chǎng)外,筆者與“舌頭”零距離接觸,不過,沉默寡言的他們,幾乎不理睬別人的問題。除了跟工作人員提要求,主唱吳吞和其他人只是埋頭調(diào)試自己的樂器,其間留著長(zhǎng)發(fā)的樂隊(duì)吉他手總會(huì)很客氣地跟人說“謝謝”。

但是,一到場(chǎng)內(nèi),“舌頭”的個(gè)性就像打了雞血一樣釋放出來。作為晚上最后一個(gè)壓軸登場(chǎng)的樂隊(duì),“舌頭”一登場(chǎng),就贏來了一片尖叫。樂隊(duì)新歌《旋轉(zhuǎn)》的前奏剛一響起,大家都不約而同地站起來。有人拿出手機(jī)拍始終雙手抱著麥克風(fēng)唱歌的吳吞,更有人在舞臺(tái)上就打聽了起來,“這首歌叫什么?以前沒聽過,太震撼了!”

舞臺(tái)上的“舌頭”看起來真的不需要太多浮夸的修飾,只要是他們幾個(gè)人,只要他們都拿著自己的樂器,就能唱出令人熱血沸騰的聲音。不得不說,吳吞的氣場(chǎng)真的很強(qiáng),如果你在現(xiàn)場(chǎng)聽他唱歌,你會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)他喉嚨里唱出的絕對(duì)不是什么兇猛怪獸,而是足以摧毀一切浮躁和虛偽的“武器”。每一個(gè)旋律都像是生有倒刺和腿腳,不管你是站在沙漠還是草地上聽,都會(huì)被他們低調(diào)又充滿厚重感的旋律“按”在原地。

來自德國的DON VITO樂隊(duì)則表現(xiàn)出與“舌頭”不一樣的異域個(gè)性。一上臺(tái),就露出了他們?cè)胍魮u滾的本質(zhì):主唱Heiko一邊扭著自己吉他的按鈕,第一句就是讓音控“能不能把聲音再開大點(diǎn)”。第一聲音樂響起來,就像炸開了一個(gè)雷,鼓手捶著鼓點(diǎn),滿面通紅,青筋暴露。樂隊(duì)主唱并不唱歌,而是偶爾用喉嚨發(fā)出高亢或沙啞的嘶吼。就算不站在音箱旁邊,也會(huì)被他們的音樂震得胸腔“嗡嗡”作響。

雖然被稱作“噪音搖滾”,但DON VITO顯然不止發(fā)出“噪音”而已。許多人聽完DON VITO演唱后都表示“很想一起宣泄出來”。德國樂迷Daniel曾如此形容:“如果你去看DON VITO的現(xiàn)場(chǎng),你會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)他們可以將很多樂隊(duì)吹到外太空?!盌ON VITO一下舞臺(tái),就表示“西湖音樂節(jié)的舞臺(tái)比想象中大”,但是也讓他們“沒法和樂隊(duì)的其他成員眼神交流”。彩排剛一結(jié)束,他們就在后臺(tái)喝起了冰啤酒。

在舞臺(tái)上制造“噪音”,現(xiàn)實(shí)生活中的他們卻十分安靜。鼓手Christian的愛好是“和女友一起看電影”,而貝斯手Susi的愛好則是“跟著樂隊(duì)一起坐火車旅行”。工作人員告訴筆者,音樂節(jié)之前的一天,剛到杭州的他們還來不及品嘗本地美食,便草草在“沙縣”解決了午飯,就趕到太子灣進(jìn)行排練。投入、敬業(yè)、個(gè)性,是他們留給杭州樂迷的所有印象。

釋放青春

李志是西湖音樂節(jié)的老朋友了,很多人也許忘不了他在2010年西湖音樂節(jié)上的表現(xiàn):李志一邊喊著“一斤理想多少錢”,一邊朝舞臺(tái)下撒了一把百元大鈔。時(shí)隔三年后李志歸來,他表示“不能老玩那一套吧”,只會(huì)正正經(jīng)經(jīng)演出。

可不是么?青春,不光只有頹廢,還應(yīng)該有頹廢過后的理性與睿智。算上自己,這次李志帶著9人團(tuán)隊(duì)登臺(tái),包括三位伴唱者和鍵盤手、貝斯手、鼓手……

舞臺(tái)上,李志的裝束與三年前相差無幾:穿著黑T恤、灰色中褲,小平頭,一雙哥倫比亞運(yùn)動(dòng)鞋。他一米七出頭的身形擠在工作人員中間毫不顯眼。上臺(tái)一開嗓,就是那首曾經(jīng)來過西湖音樂節(jié)的《關(guān)于鄭州的記憶》,三年前聽過這首歌的人,這次應(yīng)該會(huì)有不一樣的感受:9個(gè)人的樂隊(duì)讓這次的演出更加立體也更加飽滿,李志不再是那個(gè)嘶吼的李志,如今李志是一個(gè)團(tuán)隊(duì),他的演出也更加專業(yè)。

隨后,《天空之城》《被禁忌的游戲》《這個(gè)世界會(huì)好嗎》這些李志的保留曲目也一一上演。隨著李志溫柔的嗓音響起,許多工作人員都被他的聲音吸引過來駐足在舞臺(tái)前,聽得出了神。

李志離開舞臺(tái)的時(shí)候,還有不少人找他合影。他掏出手機(jī),拍了舞臺(tái),還拍了主舞臺(tái)正對(duì)面太子灣的“大風(fēng)車”。天幕暗下來,光束穿透黑夜,別的歌手登場(chǎng)的時(shí)候,李志一個(gè)人遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)地站在音控區(qū)看著舞臺(tái),出神地聽著別人唱不同味道的歌……

確如西湖音樂節(jié)的發(fā)起人、杭州《都市快報(bào)》副總編輯朱建說的那樣:“音樂節(jié)能提供參與者最大的自由和快樂,時(shí)間長(zhǎng),選擇多,呈現(xiàn)形態(tài)多樣?,F(xiàn)場(chǎng)是最有魅力的一種文化形態(tài),一個(gè)人聽音樂是一個(gè)人的感受;身處群體中時(shí),他感受更多。在音樂節(jié)上體驗(yàn)不同樂隊(duì)的表演形態(tài)、歌手狀態(tài),與歌手互動(dòng),這種現(xiàn)場(chǎng)氣氛不可復(fù)制?!?/p>

留住記憶

相比于第一天演出的個(gè)性十足,第二天則更加多彩紛呈。從杭州本土樂隊(duì)到國內(nèi)一流或噱頭十足的音樂人吳莫愁、戴佩妮、達(dá)明一派,現(xiàn)場(chǎng)氣氛都被調(diào)節(jié)至一種舒服和恰當(dāng)?shù)墓?jié)奏。年輕人當(dāng)然是主力,縱然陽光暴曬,能在草坪上跟臺(tái)上樂隊(duì)做一個(gè)現(xiàn)場(chǎng)的呼應(yīng)是亢奮之事。

來自馬來西亞的才女歌手戴佩妮,在登臺(tái)演出之后,馬上就在微博上發(fā)問下一屆還會(huì)不會(huì)請(qǐng)她。她說:“音樂節(jié)總有一股很神奇的力量,讓我能用音樂交到很多的朋友之余,也感受到再年輕一次的澎湃!謝謝西湖音樂節(jié)的邀請(qǐng),請(qǐng)問下一屆我還能夠來嗎?自己先報(bào)名?!?/p>

在第二天的演出現(xiàn)場(chǎng),還有一個(gè)奇妙的細(xì)節(jié):當(dāng)吳莫愁與戴佩妮演出結(jié)束后,大批樂迷踩著泥濘的草地離場(chǎng)。樂評(píng)人朱白說,這并非是壓軸的“達(dá)明一派”人氣不夠,而是杭州的樂迷市場(chǎng)已經(jīng)開始成熟細(xì)分,“年輕的時(shí)髦民謠粉絲和搖滾老炮懷舊樂迷……每個(gè)人都找到了自己所愛,并盡情揮灑這種愛。人只有先認(rèn)清了到底什么是我喜歡的才算是一種成熟,不是所有好的都要據(jù)為己有?!?/p>

對(duì)于一個(gè)城市來說,從來都需要“新鮮”注入,對(duì)于杭州這種歷史老城來說更是需要不時(shí)有新鮮的氣態(tài)進(jìn)行一輪又一輪融合乃至洗滌。而所謂新鮮,除了現(xiàn)代化象征意味的科技之外,更要有人格魅力和年輕姿態(tài)之類的精神物質(zhì)—西湖音樂節(jié)所呈現(xiàn)出來的溫和態(tài)度及年輕符號(hào)就是這種精神物質(zhì)。

比如更適合錄音室作品的大忘杠樂隊(duì),素人一般地出現(xiàn),融合了民族和極端自我的音樂可能有一種注定的偏遠(yuǎn)感,讓現(xiàn)場(chǎng)的年輕人很難靠近;比如一場(chǎng)傳奇的宋雨喆,用厚重的嗓音和四兩撥千斤的歌詞將現(xiàn)場(chǎng)攪動(dòng)起來,新任的朝鮮族女伴唱也實(shí)打?qū)嵉貙⒆约旱母咭糌灤┝巳珗?chǎng)。如果說音樂節(jié)還有一項(xiàng)推廣多元音樂的功能的話,那么像“大忘杠”之類就應(yīng)該頻繁地出現(xiàn)在更多的舞臺(tái)上。

城市不需要太貪婪,有時(shí)候一點(diǎn)純粹而簡(jiǎn)單的東西反而可以成為城市里的一項(xiàng)標(biāo)志。西湖音樂節(jié)與杭州正是這種輕松地進(jìn)入、融合和相互影響的關(guān)系。我甚至猜想,音樂節(jié)的現(xiàn)場(chǎng)一定也有慕名前來的觀眾,他們會(huì)因?yàn)檫@一次而愛上音樂。對(duì)于音樂節(jié)來說,這樣的莫名其妙的偶遇當(dāng)然也是其功用之一?!耙魳饭?jié)”三個(gè)字只有輕松、可愛時(shí),它才呈現(xiàn)出可愛和貼近都市人群的一面。難道每個(gè)城市不都應(yīng)該擁有一個(gè)這樣的年度性音樂節(jié)嗎?

德國樂隊(duì)DON VITO主唱背后的T恤,寫著“年輕的聲音,自由的聲音”,也許用這句話來概括西湖音樂節(jié)再好不過了。

West Lake Music Festival: Youthful and Open Singing

Since its debut in 2008, West Lake Music Festival has been a legend. Unlike its counterparts such as Midi Music Festival and Strawberry Music Festival, West Lake Music Festival in Hangzhou highlights unbridled expressions of youth and passion. It does not connect itself with commercial endorsements nor does it present commercial themes.

From June 15 to 16 this year, I attended the festival. The venue was Prince Bay Park, a large park adjacent to the scenic West Lake. On the large lawns spreading at the foot of wooded hills, people gathered to appreciate different genres of singing.

Individualism

Tongue, a band from Xinjiang, has been a phenomenon in recent years. Temperament and huge noise are hallmarks of the young band. I watched the young musicians at zero distance. Off the stage, they were taciturn, ignoring peoples questions. They were busy tuning their musical instruments. They spoke with stage management team occasionally. But as soon as they came into the spotlight, they showed their true color. As the last band for the night, they occasioned shrieking from the audience. As soon as they kicked into their latest hit “Rotating”, the audience stood up and responded warmly to the strong rhythm and melody. Wu Tun, the lead singer, had an overwhelming charisma. His singing itself destroyed all the pomposity and hypocrisy. I was spellbound.

Don Vito, a German band, displayed a different personality. As soon as they stepped onto the stage, they displayed the quintessence of their loud R&R: the lead singer Heiko asked the sound controller to maximize the volume. The music burst into the air like a thunder. The drummer punctuated the melody at a tempo so fast that his face blushed. The lead singer did not sing actually. He roared now and then. The music was so loud that I did not have to stand by the acoustics to vibrate with the melody. Many among the audience said they felt like riding on the music. Though they made huge noises on the stage, I learned that they are quiet in everyday life.

Li Zhi is a star of the festival many people remember. He made his debut in 2010 at the festival. Many people remember him throwing away of 100 yuan banknotes away while asking how much one would paid for a kilo of aspiration. This year, he said he would not repeat the trick. With a nine-member band, he staged a decent performance. He sang his classics including Memory of Zhengzhou, City in Sky, Banned Game, and Will This World Become Better. The performance attracted quite a few people.

After the show, many fans came forward to take a photo with Li Zhi. Li Zhi did not leave immediately. He stood near the sound control area and listened to other singers.

Choices

If the performances on the first day displayed a galaxy of personalities, the second day of the festival presented a full range of different styles. Some local bands as well as singers of domestic renown performed and wowed audiences. Many young people stayed in the park in the sweltering heat. Penny Tai, a talented singer of Malaysia, wondered if she would be invited again to the festival next year shortly after her successful performance at the park.

On the second day, many fans left after Wu Mochou and Penny Tai sang their songs, ignoring the last show by Tat Ming Pair, a band of two from Hong Kong. The music critic Zhu Bai commented that people left not because the Tat Ming was not attractive, but because they were not interested in the band. He pointed out that this walkout indicated that music enthusiasts in Hangzhou had matured, knowing what they wanted and what they did not want. Many young people love ballads whereas many are hardcore enthusiasts of R&R. They come to find what they want at the festival.

Organizers prefer the musical festival to go this way. A city steeped in history, Hangzhou needs new voices, leaves some old charms behind to create room for the new, and gets modernized in its appreciation of the new. West Lake Music Festival provides music lovers with choices. Bands and singers are most willing to establish themselves at the festival.
