The hero, Carl Fredrickson, likes adventurous stories when he was young. At that time, he met an energetic1 and outgoing tomboy named Ellie, discovering they shared the same interest in exploration and both two treated the famed explorer Charles F. Muntz as hero. Ellie once told Carl of her desire to move her house to Paradise Falls in South America. With time going by, Carl and Ellie wed and grow old together in the old house where they first meet. Ellies dream has not come true yet until she passes away.

故事的主人公卡爾·弗雷德從小就迷戀探險故事。孩提時代的他遇到了活力四射的假小子，艾麗。他們志趣相投，都把著名的探險家查爾斯·穆茲奉為偶像。艾麗曾告訴卡爾，她希望有朝一日能將自己的房子搬到南美的“天堂瀑布”去。歲月荏苒，卡爾和艾麗一塊兒長大，在他們初次見面的小屋里結(jié)為夫妻、并相伴到老。直到艾麗離世，她的夢想也沒能實現(xiàn)。

Later the government plans to reconstruct2 the city around Carls house. But Carl refuses to leave the house where he has lots of sweet memories with Ellie. Afterwards, Officer Edith gives Carl a court order to move into a retirement home. Carl comes up with a scheme to keep his promise to Ellie. He creates an airship using tens of thousands of colorful balloons that lift3 his house off its foundations. In this wonderful journey, he is not alone. Because Russell, a Wilderness Explorer trying to earn his final badge4 for “Assisting the Elderly” is hiding outside the door.

不久，政府計劃要在卡爾住的地方重新建造。但卡爾遲遲不愿離開和妻子有著美好回憶的小屋。正當(dāng)政府打算將卡爾送到養(yǎng)老院時，他想出了一個能實現(xiàn)對妻子承諾的好辦法。他用成千上萬個五彩繽紛的氣球系在小屋上，把小屋改造成飛船，開始了一次偉大的旅行。而他并非孤身一人，因為“荒郊探險家”羅素為得到最后一枚“幫助老人”的勛章，正躲在門外。

After a storm throws them around for a while, they find themselves landing on a great plateau facing Paradise Falls. But there is a large ravine in between. With their body weight allowing Carl and Russell to pull the floating5 house, the two try to walk around the ravine, hoping to reach the falls. As they walk towards Paradise Falls, Russell finds a colorful tropical6 bird named Kevin. They later run into a dog named Dug, whose owner is Charles Muntz. Carl is initially thrilled7 to meet his hero. However, when Carl realizes that Muntz is after Kevin and will kill her. He takes steps to save the bird and escapes with Russell from Muntzs dirigible.

他們在飛行途中遭遇了暴風(fēng)雨，之后降落在了一個廣闊無垠的平地上。對面就是“天堂瀑布”，但面前卻橫亙著一條深谷。他們用身體拉著飛屋，試圖繞過峽谷。一路上，羅素發(fā)現(xiàn)了一只五彩斑斕的熱帶鳥，取名為凱文，之后又遇到了一只名叫道格的狗。而道格的主人正是卡爾的偶像，穆茲。起初，卡爾見到穆茲十分興奮，但隨后便發(fā)現(xiàn)穆茲正在尋找凱文，并要殺死它?？栂氡M千方百計拯救了凱文，并同羅素一同逃出了穆茲的飛船。

As Carl and Russell assist Kevin to seek for her chicks, Muntz and his dogs arrive in his airship. Muntz sets a fire under Carls house, forcing Carl to choose his house over Kevin. Muntz quickly captures8 the bird and flies away. Though Carl successfully gets the house, he has lost Russells favor. When Carl, settling down in his house alone, looks over Ellies childhood scrapbook, a note encourages him to do what is right. Carl determinedly lightens the weight of his house by dumping his furniture, allowing himself to chase after Muntz in his house quickly.

正當(dāng)卡爾和羅素幫助凱文尋找她的孩子時，穆茲和他的狗追上了卡爾，并放火威脅卡爾交出凱文，否則就燒掉他的房子。穆茲很快捉住了凱文，并逃之夭夭。卡爾雖然保住了房子，卻失去了伙伴羅素的幫助。他獨自一人坐在小屋里，翻看著艾麗兒時的相冊，里面的一張紙條，鼓勵了卡爾要做自己認(rèn)為對的事情。他毅然扔掉了屋里的家具，以減輕飛屋的重量，更快地追上穆茲。

When Carl catches up with Muntz, he firstly saves Russel, but keeps him tied up in the house for his safety. Carl and Dug board the ship and are able to lure the guard dogs away from Kevin to free her. Carl and Muntz duel face to face, while Dug is able to wrest control of the dirigible from Alpha. Russell frees himself and clings to9 a lifeline as he finds the house in a dogfight with biplanes piloted by Muntzs dogs. When Carl shouts for help, Russell distracts10 the pilots and regains11 control of the house to rescue his friends, who are now on top of the airship. After a life-and-death struggle, Muntz falls down the house, never to be seen again, while Carls house drifts off into the clouds.

卡爾追上了穆茲，救出了羅素。但為了安全起見，他把羅素綁在飛屋里。隨后，卡爾和道格一起登上穆茲的飛船，將看守凱文的狗引開，救出了凱文。一場決斗隨之在卡爾和穆茲間展開。與此同時，道格好不容易控制了穆茲的飛船。這時，羅素也掙脫了捆綁，順著繩索向上爬去，發(fā)現(xiàn)飛屋上正在進(jìn)行一場激戰(zhàn)，而正駕駛飛屋的竟然是穆茲的狗。正當(dāng)卡爾大呼救命之時，羅素轉(zhuǎn)移飛行員的注意力，重新掌控了飛屋，挽救了此時正在屋頂?shù)呐笥褌儭＝?jīng)過一番殊死搏斗，穆茲從飛屋上墜落，不見了蹤影，而卡爾的小屋也跌落云層，不知去向。

Carl takes Muntzs dirigible and returns Kevin to her chicks, then flies with Russell and Dug back to the city. In the Senior Explorer ceremony, Carl fulfills the role himself to proudly present Russell with his final badge, the grape soda cap badge that Ellie gave to Carl when they first met. Afterwards, Carl, reinvigorated in both spirit and body from his adventure, becomes a cheerfully active community volunteer with a strong father-like relationship with Russell and the other Wilderness Explorers. Carl now resides12 in Muntzs airship, his old house has landed exactly where Ellie envisioned it—overlooking Paradise Falls.

卡爾駕駛著穆茲的飛船幫助凱文和她的小鳥得以團(tuán)聚，最終和羅素、道格一起乘著穆茲的飛船返回了家鄉(xiāng)。在探險家頒獎典禮上，卡爾親自將兒時艾麗送他的紫色汽水瓶蓋做的徽章送給了羅素。在這次探險中，卡爾的身心獲得了極大的滿足，最終也光榮地成了一名社區(qū)志愿者，同羅素和其他小荒野探險家們結(jié)下了父子般的深厚情誼。此后，卡爾一直居住在穆茲的飛船里，而他與艾麗的愛巢則一直停留在艾麗夢寐以求的地方，俯瞰著“天堂瀑布”的美景。

The story ends up, but in fact all our lives are a kind of adventures, and this adventurous journey need love and trust, perseverance13 and courage. The road of realizing the dream is filled with difficulties as well as legends. Where there is love, there is hope. Where there is dream, there is meaning of life.

故事雖然結(jié)束了，但其實，每個人的生活都是一次探險。在這次驚險的旅程中，人與人之間需要愛與信任，也需要堅持和勇氣。實現(xiàn)夢想的過程，并非一帆風(fēng)順，但總是充滿了傳奇般的色彩。有愛就有希望，有夢想的人生才是有意義的人生。
