施密特?漢莫?拉森建筑師事務(wù)所為威斯敏斯特大學(xué)城設(shè)計(jì)建造的新旗艦校區(qū)旨在支持學(xué)校新型的教學(xué)方式。建筑設(shè)計(jì)鼓勵(lì)互動(dòng)性和多樣性，讓學(xué)生能在正式或非正式的場(chǎng)合互相學(xué)習(xí)。

易于適應(yīng)且靈活方便的學(xué)習(xí)空間以及完美的建筑工藝有利于學(xué)生在這個(gè)多樣化的建筑環(huán)境中獲得發(fā)展。

該學(xué)院位于倫敦市中心的帕丁頓?格林，這里是20世紀(jì)60年代的舊址，早已廢棄。建筑由內(nèi)而外的設(shè)計(jì)，適應(yīng)了不同群體對(duì)大學(xué)的需求，同時(shí)也考慮到當(dāng)?shù)孛舾械纳鐣?huì)環(huán)境。建筑輪廓鮮明，獨(dú)具北歐遺產(chǎn)特色的現(xiàn)代建筑。

中庭周邊的各個(gè)樓層平面在視覺上相互連接，使中庭成為一個(gè)動(dòng)態(tài)的中心，同時(shí)是校園的核心。一些樓面上的巨大中庭延伸到立面，增強(qiáng)了內(nèi)外之間的關(guān)系。它容納了光線充足的開放式、包容性的空間，鼓勵(lì)學(xué)生的相互交流。

The new flagship Campus for City of Westminster College by schmidt hammer lassen architects is designed to support new ways of teaching and learning. The building is designed to embrace interaction and diversity and allow students to learn from each other, both formally and informally.

The learning spaces are adaptable and flexible so that, in addition to the integrated technology, the students’development is supported by the diverse architectural spaces of the very building they are in.

The College is located in the heart of Central London at Paddington Green on the site of its previous building, an inefficient and failing 1960s block. The building has been designed from the inside-out, responding to the needs of the diverse groups who use the College, as well as taking into account the sensitive local context. It appears as a clean-cut, modern building with a distinct Scandinavian heritage.

The respective floor plans surrounding the atrium have visual connections from one floor to the other, making the atrium a dynamic centre and the heart of the College. The large atrium, which on some floors extends all the way to the fa?ade, enhances the relationship between the inside and the outside. It offers light-filled, open and inclusive spaces which encourage the interaction between students.
