Foreign Minister Calls for Resumption of Talks

September 19， Beijing： China Institute of International Studies hosts the International Seminar to Commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the September 19 Joint Statement of the Six-Party Talks. Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on members of the six-party countries to recommit to the September 19 Joint Statement as soon as possible and work together to create conditions for resumption of the talks. The Six-Party Talks have been a series of negotiations aimed at resolving the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue. The namesake parties are the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea （DPRK）， Republic of Korea， China， the

United States， Russia and Japan. In the September 19th Joint Statement of 2005， the DPRK promised to abandon all nuclear weapons and existing nuclear programs， and the United States confirmed that it has no intention to attack or invade the DPRK with

nuclear weapons or conventional weapons. Negotiations have not resumed since DPRK withdrew from the talks in 2009. IC
