The Largest in China Steam Cracking Furnace Put on Stream at Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Company Successfully

On July 21, 2016 the staffs of the Zhenhai Refning and Chemical Company (ZRCC) had completed the inspection and assessment on the performance of the largest in China 200 kt/a gas steam cracker. This gas steam cracker, on which the SINOPEC has the fully independent intellectual property rights, has been smoothly operating for 30 days at ZRCC, indicating that an independently innovative new package technology for large-scale ethylene production has emerged in China.

The construction and startup of this 200 kt/a gas steam cracker at ZRCC not only can increase the capacity of the ethylene unit by 10%, but also can have more room to optimize the feedstock with more flexible measures to raise the overall competitive edge of the ethylene unit to a higher rung. This gas steam cracking furnace adopts the SINOPEC’s proprietary CBL pyrolysis technology, featuring four innovative advantages, including the largest production capacity, the ability to process either gas or liquid feedstocks, the two-hearth furnace structure, and the environmentally friendly technique, with the design, fabrication and construction of steam cracking furnace being performed completely by domestic resources.
