液氬模型探測(cè)器預(yù)研進(jìn)展研究

摘 要:液氬探測(cè)器是一種被廣泛使用的粒子物理探測(cè)技術(shù),在加速器實(shí)驗(yàn)中早就被用于粒子探測(cè),如,Atlas實(shí)驗(yàn)、D0實(shí)驗(yàn)的量能器,在未來(lái)實(shí)驗(yàn)中可以應(yīng)用在探測(cè)太陽(yáng)中微子、超新星中微子、長(zhǎng)基線中微子、暗物質(zhì)、質(zhì)子衰變等新物理中,如,LBNE等中微子實(shí)驗(yàn)、ArDM、DEAP/CLEAN及Darkside等幾代暗物質(zhì)探測(cè)實(shí)驗(yàn)。液氬發(fā)光機(jī)制本身具備約億倍的中子-伽瑪分辨能力,遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)超過(guò)了其他閃爍材料,對(duì)尋找稀有事例的暗物質(zhì)探測(cè)非常重要,目前液氬這項(xiàng)多用途的探測(cè)器技術(shù)在國(guó)內(nèi)還沒(méi)有發(fā)展起來(lái)。研究的一個(gè)重要方面是致力于基于國(guó)內(nèi)工業(yè)水平來(lái)研制液氬探測(cè)器,以期掌握探測(cè)器核心技術(shù)和降低研制成本。我們將基于液氮制冷的原理研制高溫度穩(wěn)定水平的探測(cè)器低溫系統(tǒng),基于國(guó)產(chǎn)鋯基吸氣劑研制高潔凈度的氬氣凈化系統(tǒng),用低溫光電倍增管作為信號(hào)讀出設(shè)備,測(cè)量液氬探測(cè)器的閃爍光,進(jìn)行物理研究。該文報(bào)告液氬模型探測(cè)器預(yù)研的相關(guān)進(jìn)展。

Progress of R&D on Prototype Liquid Argon Detector

Abstract:Liquid argon (LAr) detectors have been widely applied in particle physics. It is used in accelerator experiments for particle discovery, such as the ATLAS and the D0 calorimeter. It is being used in experiments searching for new physics, such as solar, supernova, long baseline neutrino experiments, dark matter and proton decay experiments, Such as neutrino experiment LBNE, dark matter experiments ArDM, DEAP/CLEAN and DarkSide. LAr detectors have about a hundred million times neutron/gamma particle discrimination capability, which is better than any other scintillation materials. The neutron/gamma discrimination capability is a determinative characteristic of detectors for rare events searching experiments. However, liquid argon multipurpose detector technology has not yet been developed in China. We aimed on developing liquid argon detector by the support of the 973 project. Domestic materials and industry technology will be adopted preferentially. We plan to build cryogenic system with high stability and good reliability based on the principle of liquid nitrogen cryocooler, and to develop argon purifying system with ultra-low impurity concentration based on domestic Zr hot getter, Combining with commercial PMTs as the signal readout device, we can put together a liquid argon detector prototype for physics study. This report described the progress of R&D on prototype liquid argon detector.
