travel， trip， tour， journey這些單詞都有“旅行”的意思，但它們之間是有區(qū)別的。

travel 通常泛指“旅行”，詞義廣泛，可以指長期、短期的，不論何種目的，不論使用何種交通工具的旅行，尤指長途的海外旅行。在表示抽象意義的“旅行”時也要使用travel。travels用來表示“包括訪問幾個地方的一次長時間的旅行、國外旅行”，也用來表示“旅行筆記”。 例如：

1. He is traveling in Africa. 他在非洲旅行。

2. He is fond of travel. 他喜歡旅行。

3. Travel is valuable because it gives us some knowledge of foreign peoples. 旅行很有價值，因為它使我們了解外國各民族的情況。

4. He has just returned from his travels. 他旅行剛回來。

5. He wrote a book about his travels. 他寫了本游記。

trip通常指短期的或短程的旅行，尤指暫時到外地辦理業(yè)務(wù)上的事情。例如：

1. Mother took me downtown on a shopping trip. 母親帶我進(jìn)城到商店逛了逛。

2. We had a trip to the coast last Saturday. 上周六我們到海邊旅行去了。

3. He went on a business trip yesterday. 昨天他出差了。

tour的意思是“周游、巡視”，常帶有根據(jù)一定的路線，事先預(yù)定了一些逗留地點，最后仍回到出發(fā)地。例如：

1. He is planning a tour of the world. 他計劃周游世界。

2. He visited the countries on good will tours. 他對一些國家進(jìn)行了友好訪問。

journey 表示“旅行，旅程”，適用范圍廣，多指陸上旅行，不用于指距離很短的旅行。例如： 1. He is away on a journey. 他出門旅行去了。

2. Its a long journey from here to the city. 從這兒到那個城市路途遙遠(yuǎn)。
