Preparation of High-efficiency Ultrastable Zeolite and Catalysts Developed by SINOPEC’s RIPP

In April 2018 the SINOPEC Corporation had launched its “green enterprise action program” by proposing to set up the clean, highly efficient, low-carbon, and recyclable green enterprises under its jurisdiction by 2023.All SINOPEC’s catalyst factories are confronted with double pressures demanding an improved green production level, as well as an upgraded catalyst performance.Hence, the green and highly efficient technology for preparation of zeolites and catalysts has become a tough issue to be unraveled in the domain of FCC catalyst research.

The process for preparation of high-efficiency ultrastable zeolite HSY and the related catalysts developed by RIPP has been realized without using ammonium salt, which can eliminate the ammonia-nitrogen contamination in the course of catalysts production to apparently increase the activity, selectivity and stability of catalysts. The application of the said technology not only can further reduce the emission of pollutants from the catalyst production enterprises, and also can bring about more economic benefits to the FCC units at oil refineries.

The research personnel based on their in-depth study on the chemical processes involved in the manufacture of ultrastable zeolites have proposed to grapple with the issue of “contradiction between sodium removal from zeolite and ammonium salt pollution”, and through theoretical study have deeply delved into the relationship between the structural characteristics and the reaction activity, selectivity and stability of the ultrastable zeolites to work out a new understanding for enhancing the catalyst performance, while in the meantime they have established the correlative model associated with the relationship between the complex variables involving feedstock property, reaction conditions, control factors and the structural characteristics of ultrastable zeolites,and also have achieved the green and high-efficiency commercial-scale serial production of ultrastable zeolite HSY under the guidance of this model; and on the basis of the technology for manufacture of the zeolite HSY they have creatively developed the technology for manufacture of a novel catalyst to eliminate the ammonia-nitrogen pollution in the course of catalyst production.
