There are many forests in Russia. Traditional houses there are all made of wood； and almost everything in the houses is made of wood， too. There are two main kinds of houses. One is made of wooden logs1， and the other is made of wooden boards. All the houses there face south.

俄羅斯有很多森林，因此那里的傳統(tǒng)的房屋都是用木頭做的，并且房子里幾乎所有的東西也都是用木頭做的。那里主要有兩種式樣的房屋：一種是由圓木做的，另一種是用木板做的。那里所有的房子都朝南。

The roofs of the wooden houses there are in herringbone2 shape. It often snows in winter in Russia， so the roof in that shape makes it easier for snow to fall from it. The top of house is an attic3 to store things. Children can often play in the attic. Usually， there are 4 or 5 steps in front of the house. The house there has 3 or 4 rooms. The floor of the house is also made of wood. Under the house is a basement4. It can store a lot of things， such as vegetables， fruit， meat， fish and so on. The windows of the house usually face south. Around the house is a courtyard which is surrounded5 by wooden fences.

俄羅斯木屋的屋頂都建成“人”字形狀。因為冬天常常下雪，所以這樣的屋頂使屋頂?shù)难└菀谆湎氯?。房屋的頂部是一個閣樓，是來存儲東西的。孩子們經(jīng)常在閣樓上玩耍。通常在房子前面有四五級臺階。那里的房屋一般都有三四個房間。房屋的地板也是木制的。房屋的下面是一個地下室，它可以用來儲存很多東西，如蔬菜、水果、肉、魚等等。房子的窗戶通常朝南。房屋周圍是一個院子，用木柵欄圍著。
