Forty years of reform and opening-up have shaped China into a moderately prosperous society and an industrial power. High-rise buildings, multinational corporations, high-tech enterprises, and institutions of higher learning are abundant in large cities, citizens in small and medium-sized cities enjoy a well-off life, and remote areas are getting rid of poverty and becoming prosperous. The success of Chinas reform and opening-up has benefitted from practical guidance, long-term planning, and firm implementation. Chinas reform and opening-up will not stop. IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde highly appreciated Chinese President Xi Jinpings keynote speech at the Boao Forum for Asia in 2018, stating that the positive message of China to firmly push forward reform and opening-up adds certainty and hope to the world today. The world is in need of leading forces like China.
