In a rainforest(熱帶雨林) in Cambodia(柬埔寨),Asia(亞洲),there is the world’s largest temple(寺廟),Angkor Wat(吳哥窟).
Angkor Wat stands in the city of Angkor(吳哥). About 800 years ago, people built the stone temple for their king. The king was a believer(信徒) in gods(上帝). Later,it was a Buddhist(佛教的) temple. About 50,000 people worked to build Angkor Wat. It took them more than 37 years. Around the temple, they made a lake. It protected(保護(hù)) people in the temple. Enemies(敵人) and wild(野生的) animals could not hurt them.
The temple and lake make great views(景觀). Trees grow tall and big. Precious(珍貴的) sculptures(雕刻) are on the walls.
In 1992,Angkor Wat became one of the UNESCO(聯(lián)合國教科文組織) World Heritage Sites(世界物質(zhì)文化遺產(chǎn)). Now lots of visitors(參觀者) come to see the beautiful stone temple every year. They think it is amazing(神奇的).
People in Cambodia(柬埔寨) are proud(自豪的) of Angkor Wat and love it so much. They even put it on their Flag(國旗) in 1850.
Angkor Wat means “City of Temple” or “Temple City”.
