The First-in-China Package Technology for Production of Hydrogen Peroxide in Slurry-Bed by Using the Anthraquinone Method Has Passed Appraisal

On December 5, 2019, one of SINOPEC's ten key projects - “The package technology for production of hydrogen peroxide in slurry bed by using the anthraquinone method” jointly undertaken by the SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing(RIPP), the SINOPEC Baling Branch Co., The SINOPEC Qingdao Safety Engineering Research Institute, the SINOPEC Shijiazhuang Branch Co., the SINOPEC Shanghai Engineering Company, and the Tianjin University has been completed after having passed the technical appraisal. The members of the Appraisal Committee have unanimously admitted that the project team has independently developed the first in China package technology for production of H2O2in slurry bed by using the antharquinone process featuring an innovative nature with independent intellectual property rights so that the overall technology has reached the internationally advanced level. This technology has been adopted by the Baling Brach Company to set up a 20 kt/a commercial demonstration unit with its operation successfully kicked off at the first attempt. The experts attending the appraisal meeting have recommended to disseminate the said technology as soon as possible.

Starting 2012, the project team through engaging in innovative development and uninterrupted optimization of the catalysts, the working fluid, the process technology and the key equipment has successfully developed the high-efficiency micro-spheric catalyst for hydrotreating of anthraquinone, the working fluid with high anthraquinone production capability, the high-efficiency slurry reactor, and the automatic back-flush high-flux filter to formulate the package technology for production of hydrogen peroxide in slurry bed by using the anthraquinone process. The successful development of this technology has propelled China's hydrogen peroxide industry into the ranks of international leading hydrogen peroxide producers, which will put a premium on the development of green chemical industry and environmental protection sector in China.
