On June 29, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government held a report on “‘one country, two systems and the current situation in Hong Kong” at the Foreign Affairs Office Building of Chongqing Government. The report was delivered by Wang Jun, the second-level inspector of the Exchange Department of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and currently a member of the Standing Committee of CPC Xiushan Tujia and Miao Autonomous County Committee (temporary post) . Zhang Yongwu, secretary of Party Leadership Group and director-general of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, as well as other leaders of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office and relevant leaders from districts and counties attended the report. The entire staff of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, and representatives from relevant district and county (autonomous county) people's governments and municipal departments attended and studied the report.
Wang carefully reviewed the origin, nature and root causes of Hong Kong's ordinance amendment issue, deeply analyzed the development direction of the "one country, two systems" principle, and discussed such issues as the promulgation of the National Security Law in Hong Kong and the maintenance of Hong Kong's prosperity and stability. This report is rich in content and has further strengthened the understanding of foreign (Hong Kong and Macao) affairs officials in the work relating to Hong Kong and Macao. It will enable Chongqing to better implement the central government's policies on Hong Kong and Macao and further facilitate its contact and deepen its exchanges with Hong Kong to join hands with Hong Kong in “going global” and participating more in international cooperation in the new era.
