Ladies and gentlemen,
It's my great honor to be here and give a speech titled “The importance of body language”. As we all know, words aren't humans'only means of communication. Gestures, facial expressions, body movements, postures and intonations can all convey messages. They are almost more important than verbal language!
To begin with, paying attention to someone's body language can help us know when someone is not telling us the whole truth. Another important function of body language is to express our feelings about what we are discussing. Besides, body language may be the determining factor in a job interview. By understanding body language more effectively,we can decrease our chances of being misunderstood. However, there are so many cultural differences between people that we may find it hard to interpret body language around the world. Therefore, it is important and necessary that we learn to use and discern body language more effectively to become a highquality communicator.
That's all. Thank you for listening.

Paragraph 1:
The class spent the rest of the afternoon talking about what they could do to show how to be more civilized. They began to feel guilty about their behavior. “I left my footprints on the campus lawn,” one student said.“I once picked fruit from campus fruit trees,”another student said sadly. “I always leave the classroom without turning off the lights,”a third student said, pointing to the switch. “I used to crack melon seeds and throw them on the playground,” the last student said, shaking his head.Paragraph 2:
Finally, Lucy said, “So it is high time for us to protect the environment.” Before Lucy could finish, the class nodded. She added, “The protection of the environment depends on everyone.” The next day everyone attended class wearing a green T-shirt with a message that said “I am not a nomad”.And, from then on, they set about showing that indeed they were not. And in the school the whole teachers and students succeeded in giving up being nomads again.

Nowadays, bamboo containers are widely used in many eating and drinking places. However, scientific tests have proved that these bamboo containers are actually harmful to people's health since they contain dangerous chemicals. The test report has shown that the harmful chemicals will come out in hot conditions. What's more, if these containers are put into the microwave, more harmful chemicals will be released, therefore resulting in more severe damage to people.

Dear Alice,
I'm glad to hear from you. I'm writing to share with you some suggestions concerning the issue you've mentioned.
To start with, it's essential for you to have a heart-to-heart talk with your parents.Expressing your real feelings and listening to them carefully can help promote your mutual understanding. To ask for a chance to be independent, not only should you present to them your detailed summer plan, but also you should promise to keep contact with your parents when you are away with your friends.
I hope my suggestions will be beneficial to you. I'm looking forward to your earliest reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

Dear Tom,
I'm glad to receive your letter. Learning that you have difficulty in making new friends and adapting to high school life, I have some advice for you.
First, you'd smile and try to be friendly when you communicate with others. Besides,it's wise to care about others. If you're ready to help them, they will understand you better. What's more, to be a good listener is very important, which will make the speaker feel comfortable and happy. Last but not least, you'd better take an active part in your class activities where you can show your talents and abilities.
I hope my suggestions will be beneficial to you. I'm looking forward to your early reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
