●Chaozhou wood carving exhibition held at National Museum of China
The exhibition is showcasing more than 160 items including fine wood carvings dating back to as early as the Ming Dynasty, masterpieces1 of contemporary2 wood-carvers in south Chinas Chaozhou and so on.
Chaozhou wood carving originated from the Chaozhou area of Guangdong Province before the Tang Dynasty. It was added to the national intangible3 cultural heritage4 list in 2006.

●Worlds oldest captive5 giant panda celebrates 38th birthday
The Chongqing Zoo threw a birthday party to celebrate the 38th birthday of Xinxing, the worlds oldest giant panda living in captivity6. At 38, Xinxing has reached the equivalent7 of about 110 to 130 in human years. There are less than 30 giant pandas in the world that have lived past the age of 30.
Xinxing, born in Sichuan province in 1982, was saved in the wild and sent to Chongqing Zoo in 1983. She visited Canada during the 1988 Winter Olympics, where she attracted over 1 million visitors. Her offspring8 are spread across the globe in more than 20 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada and Japan.
○世界上現(xiàn)存最長壽的圈養(yǎng)大熊貓迎來38歲生日
重慶動物園舉辦了一場生日派對來慶祝世界上現(xiàn)存最長壽的圈養(yǎng)大熊貓“新星”的38歲生日。38歲的新星的年齡相當(dāng)于人類年齡的110到130歲,世界上超過30歲的大熊貓還不到30只。
新星1982年出生于四川省,1983年在野外獲救并被送往重慶動物園。1988年冬奧會期間,她到訪加拿大,吸引了100多萬名游客。她的后代分布全球20多個國家和地區(qū),包括美國、加拿大和日本。
