顧名思義，“廉政”即“廉潔政治”，英文為political integrity;但有時(shí)也指“廉潔政府”（clean government）。漢語(yǔ)中，該詞經(jīng)常與“反腐”（combat corruption）形影不離。

談及廉潔政府，美國(guó)政治家約翰·林奇（John Lynch）曾說(shuō)：“The citizens（of New Hampshire）expect and deserve a government as clean as our mountain streams.”（公民需要像山泉般潔凈的政府。） 而說(shuō)到反腐，有人曾將其與愛(ài)國(guó)主義相提并論：“Fighting corruption is not just good governance. 一個(gè)潔凈如山泉的政府當(dāng)然也是中國(guó)人民的理想。為了加強(qiáng)廉政建設(shè)，總書(shū)記提出，要把權(quán)力關(guān)進(jìn)制度的籠子里（Power must be “caged” by the system.）。要堅(jiān)持“老虎”“蒼蠅”一起打（We should continue to catch “tigers” as well as “flies”.）。下面是一些與“廉政”“腐敗”緊密相關(guān)的表述：
