Dear Bob,
Hearing that you are interested in Flag-raising ceremony of our school, I am glad to tell you something about it. Every Monday morning at eight oclock, we hold a flag-raising ceremony on the school playground. All teachers and students must attend the ceremony. When the national flag is rising, we must sing the national anthem and show our respect to it.
Raising the national flag is an important means of patriotism education. The national flag is the symbol of a country. At this moment, a sense of mission and responsibility appears in my mind. Im proud of my motherland. I must work hard to make our country more and more beautiful.
Hope you can experience the Flag-raising ceremony of our school.
Yours,

How Can We Protect Ourselves at School?
School bullying happens in almost every school, and we are supposed to do something to stop school bullying. For example, we should always be friendly and helpful when making friends with others. We should stay calm before a bullying behavior happens. We mustnt fight with others.
Here are some of my ideas about protecting ourselves. Firstly, we should learn how to have a self-protection because our personal safety is the most important. Secondly, we should be peaceful with others at all times and cant have any violent behavior. Finally, we should obey school rules to avoid school bullying.

Dear friends,
June 6 is our countrys Sight Day. Everyone understands the importance of the eyes. But more and more students are getting near-sighted now. So how can we protect our eyes? Here are some pieces of? advice on how to protect our eyes.
First, be cautious on the health of using eyes. While reading, we should keep the book about a foot away from us. Second, use less electronic products and see green plants as often as possible. Finally, remember to do eye-protecting exercises or do more outdoor sports, which will help us keep good eyesight.
Thank you!

When to Say Thank You
Its polite to say “thank you” when others help us or say something kind to us. For example, when Mom or Dad washes the clothes, cleans the room or cooks dinner for us, we should say “thank you” to them. At school, when someone lends us a pen or hands us something, its nice to say “thank you”. If a teacher says “well done” to encourage us, were supposed to say “thank you”. Whenever someone holds the door open for us, we should also say “thank you”.
Be polite and always remember to say “thank you”!

Lets do something to save our environment. We all live on the earth. The earth is our one and only home, so we must take care of it. There are three enviromental problems—pollution, illness and disaster. Its our duty to protect our environment, so we must plant more trees, protect plants, save energy, and stop the pollution. We should ask our government to control the pollution from the factories. And it is very important for us to protect the nature.
If everyone makes a contribution to protecting the environment, the earth will become much more beautiful.

Dear Tony,
How is it going?
Im writing to invite you to visit the museum in Beijing. We are going to meet at the school gate at 8 am.
We are going to do a lot of interesting activities. First, we will walk around the museum and visit the ancient art of calligraphy and painting exhibition. After that we will have a picnic. At last, we will visit the old Beijing folk exhibition hall.
Please remember to wear comfortable shoes and clothes, as there will be much walking. You had better bring some simple food for the picnic and enough water, please. We hope to see you, so we can all enjoy this trip together.
Im looking forward to your early reply.

My Ways of Learning English
My favorite subject is English. I became interested in it when I was little. The most important thing to learn it is that you must listen to the teacher carefully. Besides, I listen to the English news on VOA and BBC. While listening to the news, I try to write down everything I hear to learn expressions and also practice listening. When I find my reading is not poor, I begin to read English newspapers and English novels.
These are my ways of learning English. Ill try my best to learn it well.

A charity sale was held on our school playground last Saturday morning. We prepared many things which we made by hand in our spare time, such as kites, model planes and so on. They looked very beautiful. We also brought old toys and second-hand books to sell on the sale. At 8:30 am, the activity started. Many students and teachers came to take part in it. Everyone chose their favorite items and paid for them at a much cheaper price. In the end, the money we made added up to over ?2,000. We sent the money to the community to help children who cannot attend school and the seniors who need better care.
I had a wonderful experience. Im proud of what we have done. If everyone makes a contribution to the charity, the world will become much better.

My Free Time
I have lots of things to do in my free time. I often play ping-pong, listen to music and go to the English corner after school. Among them I like going to the English corner most. I often make many friends who have the same hobby as me. And at the same time, I can improve my English.
In every summer vacation, I often join a summer camp to the countryside. There we will learn something about environment and learn how to stop pollution. I can get good grades because of this habit.

Self-discipline
Self-discipline is very important for everyone.
To be honest I am a person who is self-disciplined. I usually made a plan in advance to make it easier to achieve my goal. I used to follow all kinds of rules and hand in the tasks on time at school. And I could not only respect all my teachers but also get on well with my classmates. At home, I was able to balance housework and homework.
In a word, I have been helped a lot from being self-disciplined. It makes my life easier and more regular. And being self-disciplined has prepared me for a better and brighter future.

Save Food and Eat Healthily
Our government has called on people to save food and eat healthily so that we can enjoy a happy life. We middle school students should do something as well.
To save food, we should eat up all the food and never order the food more than we can eat while dining out, because many people in the world dont have enough to eat.
To eat healthily, wed better not choose junk food. Its good to keep a balanced diet. Wed better not eat in small restaurants because the food and the oil they use are not clean or healthy enough. Its better to eat at school or at home.
Lets work together from now on!

Dear John,
How is everything going? Im writing to share with you an activity called Opera Entering Campus in our school.
The activity was held at 2:30 pm on May 16 on the playground. In the beginning, the headmaster made a speech at the opening ceremony to inspire us students to learn more about Chinese culture. After that, there was an exciting competition about opera knowledge. In the end, we enjoyed wonderful opera performances put on by some teachers and students who are talented in opera.
Through this activity, we have a better understanding of opera and get closer to Chinese traditional culture. I hope you can have a chance to come to China and experience Chinese culture on your own.
Best wishes!

Li Hua
