美國的火警電話是911,為了讓更多的孩子了解如何撥打911、什么時候撥打911,以及撥打911后該如何述說事情,機(jī)器人也加入了這個宣傳行列。
Justin and Michael remembered the big fox. It visited them at Park Primary School.
Members of the City 911 Office dress up (as, in)___① an orange fox costume1 to play Red E. Fox at local primary schools. Red teaches young children on how to properly2 call 911.
On Friday afternoon, however, eight-year-old Michael was so surprised to see Red riding around the City Government Center.
“I was really afraid,” Michael said.
Unlike the other Red E. Fox, there was no person in a costume. It was a talking robot.
This spring the 911 Office bought a 3-foot-tall robot called Red E. Fox from 9-1-1 for Kids. “The robot costs us about $6,000 each”, said an officer from 911 Office.
The robot has a five-hour battery3, a microphone4, and can speak in five different voices.
Elise Kim, a director of 9-1-1 for Kids, said the purpose of the robot is to draw childrens attention so they can learn the proper use of the 911 telephone number.
“Children like animal characters. They find (them, they) ② lovely,” Kim said. “They are the messengers to carry the useful message of when and when not to call 911, how to dial 911 and what to say.”
