Dana： Like a lonely blade（葉片） of grass， I’m suffering from the storm of life. When troubles come to my family， I always miss Mr Shi’s warm arm. I have to be stronger， and no one will worry about me.

Kurban： Dana， Dana.

Dana： Kurban， why are you here？

Kurban： Why didn’t you go to school today？ Mr Shi was worried. He asked me to visit you after school. Come on， let’s go to school.

Dana： My grandma slipped down the hill and hurt her back. You know， my parents are working far away， so I have to stay at home to take care of her. Don’t tell Mr Shi， please！

Kurban： Mr Shi knows the situation（狀況） of your family. Last time， he organized the teachers and students from his school to raise money for your mother’s surgery. He will help you.

Dana： Because he is so nice， I don’t want to trouble him again.

Mr Shi： Dana？ Dana？ Where are you？ What happened？

Dana： Kurban！ Go！ Don’t let Mr Shi find me！

Kurban： She is here！ Mr Shi， Dana is here！

Mr Shi： Dana， why are you sitting on the ground？ You may catch cold.

Dana： Kurban！

Mr Shi： Dana， something bad must happen to you.

Dana： No， no， nothing happened.

Mr Shi： Dana， I told you that your problem is my problem. We can work it out together. Good girl， don’t cry， tell me the truth.

Kurban： Mr Shi， Dana’s grandma slipped down and hurt her back. Dana has to look after her.

Mr Shi： Poor girl！ How is your grandma？ You should have told me！ How can you go through it alone？ You are only 11 years old.

Dana： Mr Shi， how can I trouble you again？ You leave your wife and the newborn baby in Taizhou and come here to teach us. We have troubled you too much. You took care of my family many times. You raised money for my sick mother. You asked the students from your old school to write to me. Look！ I put their letter in my pocket.

Mr Shi： （reads the letter） Dear Dana， how are you？ Do you still do your homework on the cold stone bench？ Do you still cross the mountains to go to school？ Do you still worry about your family？ Mr Shi said， when Dana meets difficulties， she is not alone， because there are many people in our beautiful country willing to help her. Dana， we hope to see your smile and hear your song again. Hold on and fight，? we will try our best to help you. Dana： My teacher， I’ll never forget your kindness. Anyway， this time， I won’t trouble you again.

Mr Shi： My girl， as the letter said， when you are in trouble， you are not alone. Do you know？ The secretary of your village has started One-for-one Poverty Alleviation Program（扶貧“一對(duì)一”幫扶計(jì)劃）. He plans to build an orchard（果園） on the back hill of your house. Your parents can come back to plant fruit and earn money（掙錢(qián)）.

Dana： Really？

Mr Shi： Of course.

（Dana jumps up excitedly. Kurban also jumps up happily.）

Mr Shi： Dana， don’t worry about your grandma. We’ll take her to the hospital.

Dana： No， no， I cannot afford the hospital bill（醫(yī)藥費(fèi)）. It takes too much.

Mr Shi： My child， our government will help you when you are in trouble. 85% of the expense（花費(fèi)） will be reimbursed（報(bào)銷(xiāo)） by the government. Don’t worry about the money.

Mr Shi： Back to school， Dana. Our school is getting better and better. Tuition（學(xué)費(fèi)）， textbooks， and school meals are free. We also build a dormitory（宿舍） for students like you.

Dana： （claps her hands） Hooray！ I can go to school with my friends now.
