Charlie Brown： Oh， Marcie. Thank goodness（謝天謝地） I found you. Can you help me find a copy of Leos Toy Store？

Marcie： Did you say Leos Toy Store？

Charlie Brown： Yeah. Peppermint Patty told me you said it was the greatest ...

Marcie： Stop right there， Charles. Come with me. This is what youre looking for. Leo Tolstoys War and Peace（《戰(zhàn)爭與和平》）.

Charlie Brown： Ohhh. Yikes（表示驚訝，呀?。? How long was this war？

Marcie： Are you sure， that is the book you want to read？ Might I remind you， Charles， you only have the weekend to complete（完成） your report.

Charlie Brown： I have to， if Im gonna win that gold star.

Linus： Charie Brown， where have you been？ Its the first day of summer. You should be down there having fun with everyone else.

Charlie Brown： I cant stop thinking about it， Linus. After all the humiliating（丟臉的，羞辱性的） disasters（災(zāi)難，不幸） she witnessed（目睹） this year， why would she choose me？ Was she feeling sorry for me？ I dont want her to choose me just because she was feeling sorry for me. I have slightly（輕微地） more dignity（尊嚴(yán)） than that.

Linus： Charlie Brown， it might be time to consider the wild possibility（可能性） that youre a good person and that people like you. But you know， youll never really know the answer unless ...

Charlie Brown： I just go up and talk to her. I should have listened to you all along.

于是，紅發(fā)小女孩告訴查理·布朗選他做筆友的原因。

The Little Red-haired Girl： Oh， hi， Charlie Brown.

Charlie Brown： You remembered my name？

The Little Red-haired Girl： Of course I did.

Charlie Brown： Before you leave， theres something I really need to know. Why， out of all the kids in our class， would you want to be partners（搭檔） with me？

The Little Red-haired Girl： Thats easy. Because Ive seen the type of person you are.

Charlie Brown： An insecure（不自信的）， wishy-washy（不堅(jiān)定的） failure（失敗的人）？

The Little Red-haired Girl： Thats not who you are at all. I like the compassion（憐憫，同情） you showed for your sister at the talent show（才藝表演會(huì)）. The honesty you had at the assembly（集合，集會(huì)）. And at the dance， you were brave， and funny. And what you did for me， doing the book report while I was away， was so sweet of you. So， when I look at you， I dont see a failure at all. You have all the qualities（品質(zhì)） that I admire（欣賞）. Sorry， I have to go now.

Charlie Brown： Wait. I think this belongs to you. （Charlie Brown gives her the pink pencil.）

The Little Red-haired Girl： Oh， thank you！ Ive been looking everywhere for this！ Ill write to you， pen pal.

Peanuts（《花生漫畫》），是一部連載的漫畫，作者是查爾斯·舒爾茨。該漫畫于1950年10月2日開始在美國報(bào)刊上登載，至2000年2月 13日作者病逝時(shí)停止更新，刊登的漫畫總數(shù)約為1萬7千多則。漫畫的主人公為Charlie Brown（查理·布朗），以及他養(yǎng)的小狗Snoopy（米格魯獵兔犬史努比）。
