International Tiger Day is celebrated on 29th July of every year. The day is alsocalled Global Tiger Day. This day is celebrated every year to raise awareness1 fortiger conservation2.

The tiger is the largest big cat with its unique3 black and orange stripes4 andface. It is beautiful and people love it. This day is celebrated to protect the Tigerhabitats5 and to get support6 through raising awareness for tiger conservation.

It has been found over 97% of wild tigers had disappeared7 in the last century，with only around 3，000 left alive. The Northeast Tiger in China is the largest tiger ofall. It can weigh as much as 306 kilograms. Tigers used to live all over Asia， but thehabitats have been reduced by 90% so far. In 2022， the total number of Tigers inChina is about 7，116. It includes8 Northeast Tiger， Bengal Tiger， South China Tigerand Indochina Tiger. The number of Northeast Tiger in China is now only about 50.

The International Tiger Day was founded at the St. Petersburg TigerSummit9 in 2010. Many international organizations10 like the World Wide Fundfor Nature （WWF）， the International Fund for Animal Welfare （IFAW）， etc. takepart in the celebration. It is to keep the tigers’habitats and help the number ofthe animal grow.
