Diner: Waiter, the portions1 seem to have got a lot smaller lately.
Waiter: Sir, the restaurant has been enlarged2, so they look smaller. Thats all.
食客:服務(wù)員,最近份量好像少了很多。

Kid: Papa, are you growing taller all the time?
Father: No, my child. Why do you ask?
Kid: Because the top of your head is poking up3 through your hair.
孩子:爸爸,您一直在長高嗎?
父親:不是,孩子。你為什么這么問?
孩子:因為您的頭頂從您的頭發(fā)里戳出來了。

Kid: Mamma, when the fire goes out where does it go?
Mom: My dear son, I dont know. You might just as well ask me where your
father goes when he goes out.

A high school girl sat next to a famous astronomer at a dinner party. She started to talk with him and asked,“What do you do in life?”
He answered,“I study astronomy4.”
“Dear me,”said the girl.“I finished astronomy last year.”

Little Bobbie, while at a neighbors, was given a piece of bread and butter, and he politely5 said,“Thank you.”
“Youre welcome, Bobbie,”said the lady.“I like to hear little boys say‘thank you.”
“Well,”said Bobbie. “If you want to hear me say it again you might put some jam on it.”

Mom: Yes, dear!
Nick: Oh, I am so glad you said yes.
Mom: Why? Are you so hungry?
Nick: No, but Ive eaten them already.
尼克:媽媽,我能吃那些放在餐具柜上的蘋果嗎?
媽媽:可以,親愛的!
尼克:哎呀,我很高興您說可以。
媽媽:為什么?你這么餓嗎?
尼克:不餓,我已經(jīng)吃完那些蘋果了。
