How to protect red pandas
Thinking of endangered species, many people would immediately think of giant pandas, but actually, giant pandas have already turned into vulnerable animals, while red pandas are still endangered.
The first concern is that many people consider red pandas as the giant pandas’ babies. But these two animals are actually unrelated. Also, red pandas look very similar to raccoons. That is why only a few people know about red pandas. So the first step to protect these little creatures is to let more people know about them.
The risk of habitat loss is one of the biggest threats. With the expansion of human activities and the increasing use of land, the red pandas are forced to live in such small areas. To protect these cute mammals, people are starting to provide suitable habitats that connect to other areas, allowing them to migrate.
Research shows that fewer than 10,000 red pandas now survive in the wild. This is not only due to habitat loss, but also because that red pandas are killed for fur.
During the pandemic, I adopted a red panda called Xiao Xian for one year in Hongshan Zoo. At that time, there weren’t many visitors there, so the animals there weren’t fed well. Therefore, most of my classmates and I decided to raise money and give them a better environment. However, this is only a small step to protect animals.
To conclude, I hope that by working together, we can let these cute buddies continue to exist.

How to protect red pandas
Speaking of red pandas, many people consider them as the giant pandas’ babies, but in fact, these two types of animals are unrelated. Red pandas look very similar to raccoons but they are more reddish. Besides bamboo, red pandas also love meat.
However, red pandas are now facing many difficulties. Research shows that fewer than 10,000 red pandas now survive in the wild. The habitat loss is one of the biggest threats. What’s worse, many of them are killed for their fur.
How could we help them? The first step is to make more people know about them. We need to tell people about their stories and the difficulties they are facing.
Another thing we can do is to build more nature reserves for them. The natural environment is the foundation of the survival of wild red pandas. The government should take action to give back their homes.
What’s more, we should set up strict laws against hunting and killing red pandas. People who break the law and hurt red pandas should be fined or put into prison.
Finally, we should also do something for red pandas in the zoo. During the pandemic, I adopted a red panda called Xiao Xian for one year in Hongshan Zoo. At that time, there weren’t many visitors and there was a lack of money. Therefore, my classmates and I raised money for them and I adopted Xiao Xian. Though this was only a small step to help the red pandas, I felt really happy about it.
To conclude, I hope that by working together, we can enable these cute buddies to continue to exist on Earth.
