David Attenborough once said if he could be any animal， hewould be a sloth—because he would have a good life， with“nothingmuch to do”. Maybe he was talking about the fact that sloths are theslowest-moving mammals in the world. In fact， it will take you less timeto read this text than it takes a sloth to move a few meters.

Sloths travel fewer than 40 meters a day， onaverage2. They move slowly because they mostly eatleaves3， which don’t give them enough energy tomove quickly. It could take them as long as 30 daysto digest4 one leaf！ But this doesn’t affect5 theirpower. Sloths are about three times stronger than theaverage human.
