本刊以馬列主義、毛澤東思想、鄧小平理論和科學發(fā)展觀為指導，薈萃學術思想，追蹤學術前沿，展示民族學研究成果，突出西南民族研究特色，為繁榮民族科學文化、增強民族團結、加快民族地區(qū)經(jīng)濟建設步伐和實現(xiàn)民族地區(qū)科學發(fā)展服務。 我們注重基礎理論的研究和探討，關注熱點難點問題，倡導理論聯(lián)系實際的學風，鼓勵研究現(xiàn)實問題，特別歡迎大型田野調(diào)查報告和各類基金課題階段性論文。
