John: Hes ill in bed. He hurt himself.

Tom: Thats too bad. How did it happen?

John: We betted who could lean further out of the window, and he won.

Who Should be Given the Present

A father of five children came home with a toy, summoned(召喚) his children and asked which one of them should be given the present.

“Who is the most obedient, never talks back to Mother and does everything she tells?” he asked.

There was silence, and then a chorus(異口同聲的) of voices: “You play with it, Daddy!”

禮物該給誰(shuí)？

一位有五個(gè)孩子的父親帶著一件玩具回到家里，把孩子們召集起來(lái)問(wèn)這件禮物該給誰(shuí)。

“誰(shuí)最聽(tīng)話，從不和媽媽頂嘴，讓干什么就干什么？”他問(wèn)道。

Can We Have Our Teacher Back?

Once a superintendent of schools was visiting a three-room school. One room was very noisy, so the man grabbed a tall boy who had been standing up talking. He took the boy into another room and made him stand in the corner. Five minutes later, a small boy came out of the first room and said, “When can we have our teacher back?”

能讓我們的老師回去嗎？

有一次，一位督學(xué)去視察一個(gè)只有三間教室的學(xué)校。一間教室非常吵鬧，因此督學(xué)抓住其中一個(gè)正在站著說(shuō)話的人，把他帶進(jìn)另一間教室，并讓他站在墻角。五分鐘以后，一個(gè)小男孩從第一間教室走進(jìn)來(lái)，問(wèn)道：“您什么時(shí)候能讓我們的老師回去呢？”

Three Reasons

Teacher: Stone, give me three reasons why you know the earth to be round.

Stone: Ma says so, Pa says so, and you say so!

三條理由

老師：斯通，說(shuō)出三條理由來(lái)證實(shí)地球是圓的。

斯通：媽媽是這么說(shuō)的，爸爸是這么說(shuō)的，你也是這么說(shuō)的！

A father who was remonstrating his kid said, “How dare you kick your little brother in the stomach!” And the son said, “Its his fault, Father! Who told him to turn around? I was just going to kick his bottoms!”

一位父親責(zé)備小孩說(shuō)：“你怎么可以踢弟弟的肚子！”小孩回嘴說(shuō)：“爸爸，那是他的錯(cuò)！誰(shuí)叫他要轉(zhuǎn)過(guò)身來(lái)，我本來(lái)是要踢他屁股的！”

Whose Fifty Cents?

Jack: I found 50 cents on the sidewalk in front of school.

Tommy: I think its mine. I dropped 50 cents there today and couldnt find it.

Jack: But what I found was two quarters.

Tommy: Then Im sure its mine. It probably broke when it hit the sidewalk.

誰(shuí)的50美分?

杰克：我在學(xué)校門(mén)前的人行道上撿了50美分。

湯米：我想那是我的。今天我在那兒掉了50美分，找不到了。

杰克：但是我撿的是兩個(gè)兩毛五的呀。
