The bed used by Chinas giant basketball star Yao Ming at the Olympics will be among millions of items of memorabilia(紀念品) auctioned(拍賣) offafter the Beijing Olympic Games, media said on Thursday.
The bed was the one that the 2.26-metre Yao sleept on during his stay at the Beijing Olympic Village during the August 8-24 Games, according to reports.
It is one of about 200 million items used during the Games that will eventually go under the hammer in online bidding (出價) that started on Wednesday.
The auctions could fetch up to 1 billion yuan (145 million dollars).
“We will highlight items like Yaos bed for bidders,” Xiong Yan, president(總裁) of the China Beijing Equity Exchange (北京產(chǎn)權(quán)交易所), which will handle the auctions, said on Wednesday.
“Obviously, the bidding will be hot. People will be looking for memorabilia,” Xiong said.
The vast range of items that will be up for grabs will include furniture, sports equipment, electronics, and even some pieces of land used as temporary sports venues, the report said.
The size of Yaos bed was not detailed but officials have said previously Yao and other especially tall athletes will sleep on special, extended mattresses (床墊).

據(jù)報道,參與拍賣的大批物品將包括用過的家具、運動器材、家電,甚至還有一些用作臨時比賽場地的地皮。
姚明睡床的具體尺寸尚未透露,但此前有關(guān)官員介紹,(奧運村)為姚明以及其他一些身材特別高大的運動員定制了特殊、加長的床墊。(摘自2008年7月奧運新聞)
