Now I will tell you something about my grandfather. My grandfather was a teacher. He was a headmaster of a school for boys between the ages of 13 and 18. I know that he was a kind and gentle man at heart, because when I was young and he was old, he gave me presents and set me on his knee. He told me stories. But I believe the boys at his school were afraid of him. At school, when he walked into a room full of noisy boys, there was a silence at once. When he looked at the boy with a certain look in his eyes, the boy went red in the face and looked down at his shoes. If a boy brought him poor careless work, the work that was not the best that the boy could, my grandfather picked up the boy’s book, and threw it across the room, shouting, \"Do it again, and bring it back first thing in the morning.\" If the boy was late, or if he forgot to bring the work, he had to do it again ,again and yet again. My grandfather never forgot. He was a very different man at school from the man I saw day by day in his own home.

At last week’s class meeting, our class had a talk about how to protect the environment and save the energy in our daily life. Some thought we should turn off the light and water tap when we leave. Some thought we should take our own bags when shopping. We shouldn’t throw rubbish about. What’s more, we should tell other people to care for the environment. If everyone does a little, it can make a big difference. Our world will become more beautiful.

Helping Each Other Makes the World Wonderful
Hello, everyone. I’m Wang Ming. It’s nice to speak about help here.
In our life, we need to get help from others and also need to help others. When we help our classmates with their studies, we can develop our friendship. If we give a hand to old people, we can understand the meaning of happiness. We’ll cheer up the patients when we visit them. I think we can get much when we help the people around us. As the saying goes, “Giving is much better than receiving.”
Thanks for your listening.

Dear Jack,
Thank you for your letter asking about our discussion on low carbon lifestyle. Here is something about it.
We can do a lot in our daily life to achieve the goal of low carbon life. First, we’d better turn off lights if possible and spend less time watching TV or surfing the Internet. Saving water also matters much. Besides, we should sort out the rubbish, hoping that we might recycle some, which will surely benefit us a great deal. In addition, we suggest using handkerchiefs instead of tissues so that we can prevent more trees from being cut down. More importantly, when we go out, walking, riding bikes or taking buses should be our first choice, which contributes to a cleaner world.

We talked about the advantages and disadvantages of Internet shopping these days. Some students think it’s very convenient for us to go shopping on the Internet. The shop on Internet, for example, taobao.com, 360buy. com, are open for almost 24 hours a day, so we can buy something we want at any time if we like. What’s more, we needn’t wait in a queue.
However, some students disagreed with them. we can’t see the things while we are shopping, so we are not sure whether they are good or not. Besides, we can’t enjoy the happiness of shopping with our friends.

Less Pressure, Better Life
Hello, boys and girls!
Pressure is a serious problem in today’s world. Students in our class are under too much pressure. Some students can’t get on well with their classmates, while others may worry about their exams.
I’m always under pressure, too. My parents want me to be the top student in my class. So they ask me to take part in all kinds of after-class activities at weekends.
Last Monday evening, I had a talk with my mother. I told her I was not lazy. I really felt tired. I needed time to relax. My mother agreed with me at last. So I think a conversation with parents is necessary to solve the problem.
That’s all. Thank you!

A survey about smokers in a middle school tells that although 90% of the students never smoke, 3% of them often smoke and 7% sometimes do. In other words, 10% of the students smoke. That’s terrible.
As we know, smoking is harmful to our health. Every year, thousands of people lose their lives because of it. Smoking not only does harm to your health, but also wastes money. Because, a fire may be caused by cigarette ends. It’s a pity to learn that one ends in death by smoking.
In all, smoking is so dangerous that we should stay away from it.
