5. Skinny Witch Is So Obsessed With

Being Skinny 瘦巫婆的時(shí)髦病

Skinny Witch believes that being skinny is cool， and the skinnier， the better. But she is not so skinny before. For example， she used to eat two bowls of steamed rice a meal. Then， in order to lose weight， she reduced it to one bowl a meal， then half a bowl， a spoon， half a spoon， five grains， three grains... In this way， Skinny Witch was getting skinnier with each passing day， until one day she became so skinny that she looked exactly like a long bamboo (竹子) stick.

瘦巫婆相信，越瘦越時(shí)髦。但是她以前不瘦。例如：原來(lái)她一頓吃兩碗飯，后來(lái)為了減肥，改為一頓吃一碗飯，再?gòu)囊煌腼埜臑榘胪腼?、一勺、半勺、五粒、三粒……就這樣，瘦巫婆一天比一天瘦，直到有一天她瘦得像根竹竿。

Now she is going to visit her neighbors， for she wants to show them how fashionable she has become now. But she doesn’t walk far before she feels dizzy (頭昏眼花的) and falls to the ground.

現(xiàn)在，她要去拜訪她的鄰居們，因?yàn)樗胱屗齻兛纯此F(xiàn)在變得多時(shí)髦?？墒亲咧咧宛I得頭昏眼花，倒在了地上。

Busy Witch happens to pass by the place where she is lying， and she sees a bamboo stick on the road. “Oh， this bamboo stick sure looks good!” She says to herself， and then she picks it up and takes it home， intending (打算) to use it as a laundry pole (晾衣竿). Skinny Witch is finally hung between two trees， and before long she is getting so weak that she falls down to the ground， together with the clothes on her.

忙巫婆恰好路過(guò)她躺著的地方，她看見(jiàn)路上有一根竹竿，“噢，這根竹竿兒不錯(cuò)！”她自言自語(yǔ)道，然后她把瘦巫婆揀起來(lái)帶回家，準(zhǔn)備用她當(dāng)晾衣竿。最后，瘦巫婆被橫在兩棵樹(shù)中間，沒(méi)一會(huì)兒她就軟了，和衣服一起掉到了地上。

“Gee， this bamboo stick seems useless!” Busy Witch says， “But， at least it can be used as firewood (木材).” Then she is trying to break the stick and throw it into the cooking stove (爐子). But no matter how hard she tries， she just can’t break it. Right at this moment， the sharp pain wakes Skinny Witch up.

“哎呀！這根竹竿沒(méi)什么用嘛！”忙巫婆說(shuō)，“但是至少可以把它當(dāng)柴燒吧?！比缓笏氚阎窀完啵M(jìn)灶里?？墒?，無(wú)論她怎么使勁都掰不斷。就在這時(shí)，瘦巫婆被這劇痛給弄醒了。

Busy Witch suddenly sees two eyes on the upper end of the stick， and when she takes a closer look， she finds the eyes are

rolling around. Suddenly the stick begins speaking to her， “Hey， Busy Witch， do you still recognize (認(rèn)出) me? I am Skinny Witch. I do look cool， right?” Busy Witch is so startled (驚訝的) that she almost drops the stick. Busy Witch apologizes for what has happened， and invites Skinny Witch for a meal. However， Skinny Witch eats only one grain of rice after a full bowl of steamed rice is put in front of her and then she walks away.

忙巫婆突然看見(jiàn)竹竿上頭有兩個(gè)眼睛，當(dāng)她走進(jìn)了看時(shí)，發(fā)現(xiàn)那兩只眼睛在骨碌骨碌轉(zhuǎn)。突然，竹竿開(kāi)始講話，“喂，忙巫婆，你還認(rèn)識(shí)我嗎？我是瘦巫婆。我看起來(lái)很時(shí)髦，對(duì)嗎？”忙巫婆非常震驚，以至于幾乎把竹竿丟到地上。忙巫婆為所發(fā)生的一切道歉了，并邀請(qǐng)瘦巫婆吃一頓飯。但是，一大碗飯擺在面前，瘦巫婆只吃了一粒米就走了。

Skinny Witch is staggering (搖搖晃晃的) along the road， when suddenly her head starts to spin and she almost falls to the ground. Luckily， she got hold of Good-tempered Witch who is just passing by. After a few seconds to catch her breath， she says to Good-tempered Witch， “Do you think I look cool?” “Well， yea. You do look cool， but you are not healthy!”

瘦巫婆在路上搖搖晃晃地走著，突然眼前天旋地轉(zhuǎn)，差點(diǎn)栽倒在地。幸運(yùn)的是，她抓住了恰好路過(guò)的憨巫婆。喘了幾秒鐘氣之后，她對(duì)憨巫婆說(shuō)：“你覺(jué)得我時(shí)髦嗎？”“是的，你是很時(shí)髦，可你不健康。”

Feeling disappointed (失望的)， Skinny Witch bumps into (遇見(jiàn)) Pretty Witch. She then says to her proudly， “I am a lot more fashionable than you are！” “Well， maybe， just maybe， you look a little more fashionable than I do， but honestly I do look better!”

瘦巫婆覺(jué)得很失望，走著走著，又碰到俏巫婆，她驕傲地對(duì)俏巫婆說(shuō)：“你看我多時(shí)髦，你看你多老土！”“也許，只是也許，你是比我時(shí)髦一點(diǎn)，可我還是覺(jué)得你沒(méi)我好看?！?/p>

Skinny Witch is furious (憤怒的) with all these negative (消極的) comments after all the efforts she put into losing her weight. But still she doesn’t lose hope for some compliments (夸獎(jiǎng)). Then she comes across Good Witch who says to her， “Being so skinny is indeed fashionable， but it seems to me that you are not happy!” Skinny Witch faints to the ground again.

瘦巫婆努力減肥這么多天，卻得到這些負(fù)面的評(píng)價(jià)，非常生氣。可她還是繼續(xù)找人問(wèn)，希望得到夸獎(jiǎng)。后來(lái)她碰到好巫婆，好巫婆對(duì)她說(shuō)，“你是很時(shí)髦，但是我覺(jué)得你一點(diǎn)也不快樂(lè)！”結(jié)果，瘦巫婆氣得又一次暈倒在地。

The witches gather together and feed her with some rice milk. And it is not long before she regains her consciousness (意識(shí)). Then she hears from the other witches， “Well， she looks better now， and she’ll look much better if she eats more.” These comments are very encouraging (鼓勵(lì)的). So Skinny Witch decides to eat more in order to look better. She eats from just one grain of steamed rice per meal to three grains， then five grains， half a spoon， one spoon， less than half a bowl， half a bowl， one bowl， and now two bowls... I wish she can watch her diet a little bit from now on...

巫婆們圍攏過(guò)來(lái)給她灌了很多米湯，沒(méi)過(guò)多久瘦巫婆終于醒來(lái)了。她聽(tīng)到其他的巫婆說(shuō)，“嗯，她看起來(lái)好多了啦，她要再多吃點(diǎn)兒，就會(huì)更好看啦！”這些話非常鼓舞她，因此瘦巫婆為了讓自己變得好看，決定多吃一些。她從一頓飯吃一粒米，改為三粒米，然后五粒米、半勺、一勺、小半碗、半碗、一碗、兩碗……。但愿，她不要越吃越多啊!
