Pet Raising, Good or Bad?
Pet raising, good or bad? This was the topic on which a heated discussion was held in our class.
Some students think that with the number of pets increasing, pet waste will pollute the environment. Still worse, pets, especially dogs, may make too much noise and even attack people, resulting in wounds and quarrels. But the others disagree, saying pets can be a comfort for many old people living alone. Besides, being friends with animals will make our life interesting and help more animal-lovers.
As for me, its good to raise pets on condition that we protect our environment and care for others.

Dear headmaster,
Im writing to tell you some problems about the boarding students. These problems have affected the good rest, even the study of students. After the lights are turned off, some students make phone calls, send text-massages of surfing the Internet by cell-phone. Once in a while, they will chat with their roommates far into the night. Besides, some slow learners will do homework by the torchlight.
Although our school has provided good boarding conditions, there is still much room for improvement in management and proper guidance. First of all, head-teachers should be kept informed of their students performances in the dormitory and work together with managing teachers. Secondly, teachers should educate students to respect others and use cell-phones at the correct time. Last but not the least, students should observe the rules and be self-disciplined.
Best regards!
Sincerely yours,
Li Hua

A Letter to the Students in Our School
Dear fellow students,
Many children in our province are now living a poor life. They are in great need of help. As students, what should we do?
First, we should know more about the importance of helping those poor children and pay more attention to them. Our help will bring them a happier life. Then, we should try to save every cent we can to help them. Send them what will be of great help in their life and studies. Meanwhile, we can also give away something else to them, such us our clothes, books and some other things. Finally, theres also a good way to help the poor children by keeping in touch with them. By doing so, not only can we communicate more with each other, but also we can encourage and help each other more.
Dear fellow students, lets start to act right now!

Dear Wang Lin,
I know from your letter that a classmate of yours likes to find your fault and you feel worried.
As we know, getting on well with our classmates is very important. The good relationship between classmates makes us in a relaxed state, which has a great effect on our study.
As for dealing with the “shortcomings” your classmate has pointed out, if you do have the shortcomings, you should thank your classmate, and then correct them, which can help you do better in the future. For something wrong like “too thin” or “too short”, just take no notice of them. In addition, youd better have a talk with him.
I hope my advice will prove more or less helpful.
Yours,
Li Hua

Dear Tom,
It is nice to receive your e-mail. Now Id like to tell you something about the Palace Museum.
The Palace Museum is also called the Forbidden City. It took thousands of workers 14 years to build it. It was completed in 1420. As the largest museum in the world, the Palace Museum holds cultural treasures from the past 5,000 years of Chinese history. Its palaces have 9,999 rooms altogether. Chinese people traditionally have thought of nine as a lucky number. Students from all over China can now visit it free of charge every Tuesday.
I hope you can come to China and visit it by yourself.
Best wishes.
Yours,
Li Hua

Dear headmaster,
Im writing to tell you about a discussion weve had about whether students of Senior 3 should take physical exercise. 60% of the students think they should take exercise every day, such as doing morning exercises, playing ping-pong ball and playing basketball, but it shouldnt take up too much time.
Exercise builds ones body and reduces diseases. Sports let their brains have a rest so that their reviews will be more effective.
On the other hand, 30% believe taking exercise is a waste of time and tiring. After having sports, they are much too excited for a long time to pay attention to their lessons. And its also possible to be hurt in sports.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

Very often you come across empty classroom with the lights still on. And its not difficult to find evidence of wasting water. Additionally, students do not recycle enough, throwing away the soft drink bottles, used exercise papers and books. Worse still, many students still use the nonenvironmental friendly lunch boxes, causing the “white pollution”.
These things showed that many students lack the sense of environmental awareness. Its important to educate students to have environmental awareness. At the same time, students can do small things, such as collecting used items for recycling, turning off the lights, and saving water.
Always remember that its everyones responsibility to protect the environment.

Dear Ms Li,
Im very happy to have you as our English teacher.
As the world is becoming a global village, English is getting more and more important, so mastering English means we can see the world through a new window.
My English is just OK and the two main problems in my study are that I feel it difficult to learn words by heart, and that I often feel nervous when speaking English. I dare not speak English with the native speakers. I really hope that you can give me good advice on how to memorize new words. Another suggestion is to give us more chances to practice speaking for most of the classmates are poor in spoken English. I believe we can make much progress in English with your help.
Thank you!
Yours
Li Hua

How we can build up a harmonious family
A harmonious family is essential to our personal development and our physical and mental health. A harmonious family is always full of warmth, love and laughter. Parents and children love and show concern for each other. They also respect and understand each other. If a child grows up in a harmonious family, he is more likely to be cheerful and optimistic. Meanwhile, parents in a harmonious family live happily and more healthily.
Since a harmonious family plays an important role in our life, every family member should contribute to the building of such a family. First of all, parents should be a role model for their children and pay more attention to their own words and behavior. Besides, they must trust their children and often communicate with them.
As children of the family, we should also respect and understand our parents. If we do so, our home will always be harmonious.

Have a healthy lifestyle
As we all know, health is very important. Only when we are healthy can we study well and enjoy life.
However, many teenagers dont pay any attention to their health, especially during the holiday. And they spend too much time watching TV, playing games and chatting on the Internet all night, which is bad for their health. First, this may make them get near-sighted. Besides, their bodies become much weaker. Thirdly, they will lose the chance to communicate with others face to face as they never go out, which may have a bad effect on their mental health.
In my opinion, they should spend less time in front of the TV or the computer. Go out to take some exercises, play some sports and visit some friends and have a healthy lifestyle.
