《小王子》是作家安東尼·德·圣?？颂K佩里于1942年寫成的著名法國兒童文學(xué)短篇小說。作者以孩子式的眼光，用淺顯天真的語言揭示出成人世界中的虛榮、勢利和死板教條，從而表達出對真善美的謳歌。有一位作家曾這樣寫道：“我每一次讀《小王子》，都被這種孩子式的看待世界的態(tài)度感動，多么天真、幼稚，可又多么純潔、真誠。時光流逝，童年遠去，我們漸漸長大，歲月帶走了許許多多的記憶，也消蝕了心底曾經(jīng)擁有的那份童稚的純真。但是，每次讀一遍《小王子》，就好像在清水中洗了個澡一般，心又重新變得剔透明亮了?！?/p>

The narrator， an pilot， crashes1 with his airplane in the middle of the Sahara desert. While he is trying to repair his airplane， a little boy appears and asks him to draw a sheep. The pilot learns that the Little Prince comes from asteroid2 B-612 where he has left behind three volcanoes and a rose.

故事的敘述者是一個飛行員，他的飛機在撒哈拉大沙漠中墜落。當(dāng)他正在想辦法修理他的飛機時，一個小男孩出現(xiàn)了，小男孩想讓他畫一只綿羊。飛行員了解到這個小男孩（即小王子）來自B-612小行星，他離開了小行星上的火山和玫瑰來到了這里。

Before reaching Earth， he has visited other planets and met some very odd people： a king， a conceited man， a drunkard， a lamplighter， a geographer ... Since arriving on Earth， he has spoken to a fox who has taught him that to know someone or something， you must tame3 them， and that makes them unique. “What is essential4 is invisible5 to the eye，” says the fox.

在到達地球之前，小王子還去了其它星球，遇到了很多奇怪的人：國王、愛虛榮的人、酒鬼、點燈人、地理學(xué)家等等。來到了地球之后，小王子結(jié)識了一只狐貍，這只狐貍告訴他：如果你想要真正地懂得某個人或某樣?xùn)|西，你必須花時間馴服他們，只有這樣才能使之成為你的唯一?！罢嬲举|(zhì)的東西，光用眼睛是看不到的。”狐貍這樣說。

In order to return to his planet and his rose， the Little Prince allows himself to be bitten by a poisonous6 snake： his planet is too far away， so he cannot take his shell. The pilot， who has succeeded in repairing his plane， also quits the desert. He still hopes the Little Prince will return one day and asks us to write and tell him if ever we should meet his friend.

為了重返他的星球，回到他的玫瑰身邊，小王子故意讓自己被毒蛇咬了一口，因為他的星球太遠了，他已經(jīng)沒有力氣把自己的身軀帶回去了。飛行員把飛機修理好后，也離開了沙漠。他希望小王子某一天還會回來，也拜托我們，如果見到他的朋友小王子，請寫信告訴他。

1. “Goodbye，” said the fox. “And now here is my secret， a very simple secret： it is only with the heart that one can see rightly； what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

“再見了，”狐貍說著，“告訴你一個秘密吧，很簡單：事情的本質(zhì)是無法用肉眼看到的， 只有用心去看才能看得真切。”

2. “It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important. ”

正是因為你把時間都花在了你的玫瑰身上，這朵玫瑰才顯得如此重要。

3. Only the children know what they are looking for. They waste their time over a rag doll and it becomes very important to them； and if anybody takes it away from them， they cry.

只有孩子們才知道自己想要的是什么。他們在布娃娃身上花費大把時間，所以布娃娃對于他們來說就變得特別重要，如果有人拿走他們的布娃娃，他們就會傷心地大哭。

4. Flowers are so inconsistent7！ But I was too young to know how to love her.

花總是那么表里不一！但是我還是太年輕，不知道該如何愛護她。

5. If someone loves a flower， of which just one single blossom8 grows in all the millions and millions of stars， it is enough to make him happy just to look at the stars. He can say to himself， “Somewhere， my flower is there ...”

如果一個人對一朵花情有獨鐘，這朵花在他眼里就成為在這千千萬萬星球上唯一盛開的一朵。只要看一看這些星星就足以讓他感到欣慰了。他可以告訴自己：我的花就在這些星球上的某個地方……

6. You know—One loves the sunset， when one is so sad.

你知道的——當(dāng)人情緒低落時，往往會喜歡看日落。

7. You are beautiful， but you are empty. One could not die for you. To be sure， an ordinary passer-by would think that my rose looked just like you—the rose that belongs to me. But in herself alone she is more important than all the hundreds of you other roses； because it is she that I have watered； because it is she that I have put under the glass globe； because it is she that I have sheltered behind the screen； because it is she that I have killed the caterpillars； because it is she that I have listened to， when she grumbled， or boasted， or even sometimes when she said nothing. Because she is my rose.

你們都很美麗，但卻虛有其表。因為沒人會為你們而死。當(dāng)然，一般的路人，在見到我的那朵玫瑰時，也會認(rèn)為她和你們一樣普通。但是那朵玫瑰是屬于我的。對我而言她這一朵比你們這成百上千朵玫瑰都要重要。因為我曾經(jīng)為她澆水，曾經(jīng)用玻璃罩和屏風(fēng)為她擋風(fēng)遮雨，曾經(jīng)為她鏟除毛毛蟲；我還傾聽過她的抱怨，聽過她的自吹自擂，也曾在她沉默不語的時候陪伴著她——只因為，她是我的玫瑰。
