Chengdu Strengthens Cooperation with Chinalco

On January 11, Mayor of Chengdu Tang Liangzhi met with the delegation led by Chairman of Chinalco Ge Honglin and relevant chief persons of the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) and Sweden Sapa Aluminum, both sides held discussion on further strengthening strategic cooperation, and speeding up project construction.

Tang Liangzhi expressed warm welcome toward the visit of the delegation led by Ge Honglin to Chengdu. He said, Chinalco is an ultra large central enterprise with both glorious history and tremendous development advantages, in recent years, it has carried out a series of highly effective friendly cooperation with Chengdu, both sides have established deep-rooted friendship. Currently, Chengdu’s economy has reached “trillion” mark, it now has better development foundation, and more confidence for growth. Meanwhile, as a hub city for China’s opening up in the West and a converging point of the Yangtze River economic belt and the Silk Road economic belt, against the background that Tianfu New Area was approved as state-level new area, the High-tech Zone strived to create nationwide independent innovation model zone, Chengdu is now facing a rare period endowed with multiple opportunities, which provides vast development space and huge market needs for promoting more and deeper cooperation with Chinalco.

Tang Liangzhi hoped Chinalco would quicken the pace of renovation and upgrading progress of existing projects in Xindu District, and intensify investment efforts in Southwest Headquarters and other projects in Chengdu Tianfu New Area. Meanwhile, he expected Chengdu, Chinalco and CSCEC could sign strategic cooperation framework agreement as soon as possible, aiming to carry out further cooperation in wider fields such as automobile industry, railway transport, and electronic information industry, aluminum product application and energy saving recyclable building material, speed up the progress to build 100-billion-yuan-grade new aluminum product industrial cluster, boost transition and upgrading of Chengdu’s industrial structure, improve quality and enhance efficiency, usher in a new “aluminum” journey of an industry worth 100 billion yuan under new normal, fulfill mutual benefit and win-win of local enterprises. Chengdu will also continue to create favorable condition for enterprise development, and provide premium quality government affair services.

Tang Liangzhi also said Chengdu would take advantage of the opportunity of this time’s cooperation with Chinalco and CSCEC, actively strive to carry out multiple-field and all-inclusive in-depth cooperation with more central enterprises. Meanwhile, Chengdu will also continue to create favorable development environment and innovation-oriented entrepreneurship environment, attract more private enterprises with substantial strength to come to Chengdu to make investment and develop business.
