Zhaotong Accelerated the Construction Progress of 700,000 t/a Hydraulic Power Aluminum Project

Zhaotong Municipal Government signed the ”Framework Agreement on Hydraulic Power Aluminum Project for the Recovery & Reconstruction after Ludian 6.5 grade Earthquake” with Yunnan Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd recently,both sides confirmed the construction of 700,000 t/a electrolytic aluminum production line in Zhaoyang Industrial Park.

According to relevant requirements of the spirit of the provincial government’s “Opinions on the Implementation of Policy Measures for the Recovery & Reconstruction after Ludian 6.5 Grade Earthquake” and the “Minutes of On-site Administrative Meeting on Hydraulic Power Aluminum Project for the Recovery & Reconstruction after Ludian 6.5 Grade Earthquake”, in order to speed up the implementation of “Supporting the disaster zone to bring out advantage in hydraulic power resource, promoting metallurgy-power joint operation, rationally deploying clean energy carrying industries such as hydraulic power aluminum” and “Planning & constructing clean energy carrying industries such as hydraulic power aluminum, promoting integration of mine and power”, fully bring out the key role of industrial economy in speeding up social and economic development of the disaster zone and driving forward Zhaotong’s industrial development standard, the municipal government joined hands with Yunnan Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd to construct “Hydraulic Power Aluminum Project Base for the recovery & reconstruction after Ludian 6.5 Grade Earthquake”, the project is about the construction of 700,000 t/a electrolytic aluminum production line (including production, office, and living auxiliary facilities), the Project’s estimate total investment is about 6 billion yuan. The project selected its site at Zhaoyang Industrial Park, the construction of the project is scheduled to kick off in October 2015, and it is expected to be completed and launched into production in October 2017.

The main body for execution of this project is Yunnan Aluminum Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Yunnan Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd, in the project’s construction process, both sides will establish consultation mechanism, and communicate/report relevant matters on an irregular basis, aiming to make common efforts to create conditions, actively push forward cooperation and carry out all work tasks, and accomplish cooperation target according to the agreement requirements.
