10 Billion Yuan Transport-use Aluminum Market Invigorated the Vitality Of the Aluminum Deep Processing Industry

When the Chinese economy enters a “new normal” status, the aluminum industry is also facing the overlapping pattern of “growth speed gear-shift period, period of structure adjustment and pains, and early-stage stimulation policy digestion period”, rebuilding industrial structure and developing mode undoubtedly have become key discussion topics of the aluminum industry. Although China’s aluminum industry is temporarily trapped in “cold winter”, in the aluminum deep processing field, aluminum for transport use bucked the trend to become a powerful engine driving forward the aluminum industry to fulfill transition and upgrading.

In recent years, with the rapid development in automobile, railway transport, aviation and marine transport industries, the aluminum demand of European transport field has more than tripled; in the future this figure will continue to multiply. Take aluminum for automobile use as an example, the average aluminum usage in developed countries has reached 145kg, but in China this figure is only 105 kg, which promises vast market space. According to statistics, during the “Twelfth Five Year Plan” period, the annual compound growth rate of aluminum product consumption in China’s automobile manufacture industry is 20.9%, usage of aluminum alloy profile, sheet and strip, cast parts, and forged parts in automobile becomes inevitable choice for the large number of automobile manufacturers. According to another batch of data, in 2014 the aluminum product consumption in China’s railway transport field is about 160,000 tonnes, and is estimated to reach 220,000 tonnes in 2016, but in the next several years, total space of urban rail vehicle market will reach 60 billion yuan. Experts in aluminum industry point out that, in the transport field of passenger vehicle, all aluminum trailer, aluminum oil tank truck, C80 open top coal car, high speed railway, urban railway, and metro lines, in the future there will be an additional 10 million tonnes of market capacity for aluminum usage, the development in “Big Airplane” and ships & yacht projects will also bring greater development opportunities to the aluminum industry.
