Light includes all forms of electromagnetic radiation, and photon has zero rest mass. As fundamental particles, photons travel at the speed of light and have energies dependent on their frequencies. According to Einsteins formula E = MC2, photons have mass although small. The loss of star matters in the form of light irradiation or release of cosmic particles will reduce gravitational pull and cause orbit expansion of stars and planets, and cosmic expansion.

Centripetal force F = mv2/r

As tangential speed v remains unchanged, the reduction of F necessitates the increase of radius of curvature r.

The universe may be static at some time point in some spaces, and then the shrinking of stars reduced gravitational pull and allowed the increased expansion of cosmos.

The earth is moving away from the sun (1-4), so is the moon from the earth (5-6). The slight steady loss of solar pull to the moon may explain the shift of the moon away from the earth.

As regards to earthquakes, the larger inertia will accelerate larger masses for longer time than smaller masses, caused by lunar and solar pulls and manifested by plate drift. This causes collisions of regions possessing potential energies.
