Bench Scale Biological Method for Manufacture of 2,3-Butanediol Completed at FRIPP
The technical achievement relating to the research on biological technology for manufacture of 2,3-butanediol and application of its derivatives undertaken by the SINOPEC Fushun Research Institute of Petroleum and Petrochemicals (FRIPP) has passed the technical appraisal organized by the Science and Technology Division of Sinopec Corp.
The research staffs during the technical development of biological method for manufacture of 2,3-butanediol and its derivatives realized the fermentation of glucose serving as the starting material in the presence of theKlebsiella oxylaca(provided by the Nanjing University) to yield the target product 2,3-butanediol. The bench tests have revealed that the concentration of 2,3-butanediol reaches over 75 grams/L and the product molar selectivity is equal to 68.4%, with the extraction yield exceeding 80% and the product purity exceeding 99%.
