Boyfriend/girlfriend drop refers to the act of subtly①subtly 美 ［'s?tli］ adv. 精細(xì)地；巧妙地；敏銳地adding the fact that you have a boyfriend/ girlfriend into the conversation in order to deter②deter 英 ［d?'t??］ 美 ［d?'t?］ vt. 制止，阻止；使打消念頭hasty 英 ［'he?st?］ 美 ［'hesti］ adj. 輕率的；匆忙的；草率的；性怠的anyone who is potentially interested in you.

“扔男友/女友”指在聊天的時(shí)候不經(jīng)意提起自己有男朋友或女朋友的事情，目的是為了擊退某個(gè)對(duì)你感興趣的人。

For example:

She thought I was interested in her and boyfriend dropped me in our last meeting.

她以為我對(duì)她有興趣，于是在上次見(jiàn)面的時(shí)候她就告訴我她有男朋友了。

形容一件事情遙遙無(wú)期，我們總是會(huì)說(shuō)“要等到猴年馬月??？”，可是大家知道嗎？猴年馬月真的來(lái)了！

實(shí)際上，猴年馬月并不是真的遙遙無(wú)期，而是每逢12年就有一次，今年的猴年馬月開(kāi)始于2016年6月5日，結(jié)束于2016年7月3日。

A query asked if the British slang term for 'a very long time' was donkey's years or donkey's ears. My first thoughts were， "donkey's years of course - what would ears have to do with it？". It turns out that I was being rather hasty②deter 英 ［d?'t??］ 美 ［d?'t?］ vt. 制止，阻止；使打消念頭hasty 英 ［'he?st?］ 美 ［'hesti］ adj. 輕率的；匆忙的；草率的；性怠的. Donkey's years is now the more commonly used slang term when meaning 'a long time'， but donkey's ears，although used little in recent years， has been a jokey alternative③alternative 英 ［??l't??n?t?v； ?l-］ 美 ［?l't?n?t?v］ adj. 供選擇的；選擇性的；交替的 n. 二中擇一；供替代的選擇for some time - from the early 20th century.

一份問(wèn)卷調(diào)查了英國(guó)描述“很長(zhǎng)時(shí)間”的俚語(yǔ)是donkey's years還是donkey's ears。我的第一反應(yīng)就是：“當(dāng)然是donkey's years”，這和耳朵有什么關(guān)系？但事實(shí)證明我還是太草率了。donkey's years在現(xiàn)在，普遍被用作表示“很長(zhǎng)時(shí)間”，donkey's ears雖然如今用得很少，但從20世紀(jì)初期開(kāi)始，被用作一種滑稽的替代。

比“popular”更好用的是——“a thing”

在近來(lái)的美式英語(yǔ)中，“a thing”有了新含義，表示一個(gè)新流行的話題、趨勢(shì)或行為（a newly popular topic， trend， or activity）。

例1：Eating toast with avocado on top is now “a thing” in many U.S. cities.

現(xiàn)在美國(guó)很多城市流行吃吐司上面放一顆牛油果。

例2：Saying that you will move to Canada if _________ wins the presidency in November is also a thing among celebrities.

最近名人們流行把“如果_________ 11月贏得總統(tǒng)大選我就搬去加拿大”掛在嘴邊。

例3：Are adult coloring books really a thing now？

成人的涂色書現(xiàn)在真的很火嗎？

Yes， they are: people are actually spending time coloring paper books like children. Sadly， it is a thing.

沒(méi)錯(cuò)，是的：人們真的像小孩一樣把時(shí)間花在涂紙質(zhì)書上。很悲哀，它真的很火。

Wardrobe Rage

"Wardrobe rage" describes the irrational tantrums①tantrum 英 ［'t?ntr?m］ 美 ［'t?ntr?m］ n. 發(fā)脾氣；發(fā)怒people feel when they are staring at the wardrobe but don't know what to wear or cannot find anything they want to wear.

“衣櫥怒”指人們盯著自己的衣櫥卻不知道該穿什么，或者找不到任何想穿的衣服時(shí)焦躁的發(fā)怒狀態(tài)。

這個(gè)表達(dá)來(lái)源于大家都熟悉的road rage（路怒），后來(lái)衍生的相關(guān)表達(dá)還有web rage（網(wǎng)怒），desk rage（桌怒）以及air rage（空怒）等。
