But don’t worry, as Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is rolling out a new service that will take you to your seat or the exit as quickly as you feel comfortable.

Mr. Wang and his wife took a flight from Guangzhou to Beijing on June 21st. At Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (or Baiyun Airport), they headed towards a female staff member wearing a sash that read “Boarding Guide”. As the couple were warmly guided onto an electric shuttle cart, their luggage was taken care of by the driver. While at the check-in counter, the guide got off the shuttle cart and asked for the pair's passports. At Check-in Area C, Counter No. 17, the guide handled the check-in process (including luggage check-in) on behalf of the customers. After this was done, they were driven to the security checkpoint. Once through, another electric shuttle cart was waiting for them and they were driven to Boarding Gate A10 in no time. After all these steps, Mr. Wang took a glimpse of his watch and found that only 20 minutes had passed since the moment they arrived at the airport.

You may wonder what all this is about? It is a new speedy boarding and one-stop butler service that is offered at the airport. Thanks to his booking of the service three days earlier, Mr. Wang and his wife could enjoy the comfort of this accompanied drop-off service.

The pick-up and drop-off service is specially designed to bring ease and comfort to passengers. The offering available for online booking comes in two suites. The drop-off suite of services includes early processing of boarding passes, check-in assistance, and electric shuttle cart transport to the boarding gate. The pick-up suite of services includes pick-up at the airbridge or the shuttle bus drop-off point where a guide will be waiting, assistance with luggage claim, shuttle to any accessible point within the terminal, and assistance with inquiries at the luggage inquiry counter in the event of loss or any damage to the luggage. In addition, such value-added services as assisting passengers with application for wheelchairs, flight changes at ticket counters, and applications for temporary boarding certificates are also available upon request.

It is reported that since its launch, the pick-up and drop off service has been warmly received by passengers with hundreds of online bookings and bookings from an official WeChat platform at the airport. A source from the airport revealed that given the good prospects of the service among potential user groups like unaccompanied minors/ seniors and passengers on business trips, the airport will keep optimising the procedures of the service and extend it to a broader customer base to bring efficiency and convenience to more passengers.
