“勢利”指“根據(jù)財(cái)產(chǎn)和地位看待人”，英語譯為snobbish。例如：1. 簡·愛感到她永遠(yuǎn)無法同這些勢利而高雅的人們競爭。Jane feels she can never compete with these snobbish, elegant people.

2. 他發(fā)現(xiàn)這個奢侈品店的店員可能是最勢利的一群人。He found the shop　assistants in this luxury store were per?haps the most snobbish group of people.

“勢利眼”或“勢利小人”，英語譯為snob。如：3. 約翰有點(diǎn)勢利眼，他太羨慕社會地位較高的人，而不尊重社會地位較低的人。John is a bit of a snob,who admires people in the higher social　classes too much and has no respect for　people in the lower social classes.

“勢利行為”，英語譯為snobbery。例如：5. 這名男子對窮人采取勢利態(tài)度，總是擺臭架子，因此幾乎所有的人都對他的勢利行為感到惱怒。The man adopted　a snobbish attitude toward poor people, al?ways talking through his nose, so almost　everyone was annoyed by his snobbery.

6. 這個有錢人從骨子里就勢利，常常炫富。他周圍的人把他的行為看作是一種可恥的勢利行為。The rich man has a　snobbish bone in his body, and often　shows off his wealth. The people around　him all consider his behavior as a shame?ful piece of snobbery.▲
