Chinese Jala Group is using 3D bioprinting technology to produce synthetic Asian skin for cosmetic testing purposes, according to a report published by 3ders.org.
The artificial skin boasts a dermis and epidermis and is designed to test the safety, effectiveness and appearance of products specifically aimed at the Asian market. The technology was perfected at the end of last year, with Jala’s R&D department working with French company LabSkin Creations to fine tune the process, which was five years in the making.
“Cosmetics is not simple,” said Zheng Chunying,Chairman of the Jala Group. “It needs to provide consumers with security. With 3D bioprinting technology,Jala can better test and develop a new generation of natural products with the use of cutting-edge technology,allowing us to develop the best products for consumers.”
