Avoid Backlit Reading Before Bed
During a recent experiment, all participants read for five nights on an iPad and for five nights from a book. As anticipated, reading something in print made for a better sleep. Participants reading the iPad took about 10 minutes longer to fall asleep, secreted less sleep-inducing melatonin, and shifted their internal circadian clock. They also reported feeling more tired the next morning. (Scientific American)

Light Music Reduces Fast Food Meal Size
Now a study has found that changing the ambiance of a fast food restaurant to more of a fine-dining atmosphere with light music lessened the amount of food people crammed into their pie holes. The patrons actually averaged 18 percent fewer calories per meal than the folks in the rowdy section—down from an average of 949 calories to 775.(Scientific American)
