Facial makeup（臉譜）is very important in Beijing Opera. It shows the roles personality by using different colors. The basic colors used in modern（現(xiàn)代的）Beijing Opera painted faces are red，purple， black， white， blue， green， yellow，pink， gray， gold， and silver.
