A New Kind Of Contact Lens
A new contact lens1 may help people who have a disease called diabetes (糖尿病). People with diabetes may have too much sugar in their blood. Some people have to check their blood sugar a few times a day with a needle2. Ouch! People might be able to use the new contact lens instead.
This contact lens does not help people see better. It finds the sugar in their tears. A light flashes3 on a screen if there is too much sugar. People can also look at their phones to see if their blood sugar level is too high.
The lens is soft and easy to wear. It is not yet available to the public. But in five years, people may be able to use the new lens.

Scientists are making stronger space suits. A special liquid5 soaks6 into the suit. The liquid becomes thick when something hits it. So these suits will get stronger if something hits them. The new suits are also thin and not too heavy.
Astronauts are not the only ones who could use stronger suits. Police officers and firefighters7 could use them, too.

Companies are developing new kinds of glitter(亮粉) that are not made of plastic9. Instead, the new glitter is made from plants. Plastic never breaks down10 all the way. When it gets into the ocean, plastic glitter can harm fish and other animals that eat it.
The biggest problem is the glitter in makeup11. When people wash their faces, the glitter goes into the sink12, then it ends up in the ocean. Many ocean animals have eaten plastic. Eating plastic can harm or even kill animals.
