Animal lovers recently celebrated the news that a landmark[有重大意義的] step has been taken by the residents[居民] of a small Spanish town, recognising cats and dogs as “non-human residents.”
It may only have a population of 330 residents, but the town of Trigueros del Valle voted unanimously[一致地] to define dogs and cats as “non-human residents”, giving them rights similar to men and women. Under the new act[法案], the town has banned “any action that causes the mutilation[殘害] or death of a non-human resident.”
The mayor said: “Dogs and cats have been living among us for over 1,000 years. The mayor must represent not just the human residents but must also be here for the others.”
Meet Americas Youngest Mayor—3-Year-Old James Tufts
A three-year-old James Tufts has become Americas youngest mayor following a successful campaign on Sunday.
Adorable James Tufts followed in his sixyear-old brother Roberts footsteps, who served two terms in the ceremonial[儀式的,正式的] position in Dorset, Minnesota, aged four. James spent election day chatting with voters and wooed[爭取] the tiny town of 22 residents with the promise of ice cream if he won.
The boys mum Emma, a food service director, said: “We are proud of the hard work they both have put into being and becoming mayor. The discipline[行為準(zhǔn)則] they have when all they want to do is be kids and people are asking
UK Singer Faints Wearing Extra Clothes to Avoid Luggage Fe
A member of a boyband who wanted to avoid an excess luggage[超重行李] fee passed out[失去知覺] on board an easy Jet flight, after wearing all his clothes so he didnt have to pay a £45 sub-charge.
James McElvar thought he was having a heart attack when he lost consciousness[意識(shí)] at 37,000 feet flying from London to Glasgow. Little did he know hed passed out from heat exhaustion[中暑虛脫]—having dressed himself in six T-shirts, four jumpers[針織套衫], three pairs of jeans, two pairs of jogging bottoms[慢跑褲], a pair of jackets and two hats.
“I felt it was my only option[選擇] to put on everything,” James told MailOnline. He started undressing as the plane was taking off, but his body temperature had already soared[猛增] to dangerous levels.
